Donna Mae (Wright) Flack

OSWEGO, NY – Donna Mae (Wright) Flack of Fair Haven, NY, and Punta Gorda, Fla., and formerly of Penfield, NY, died of breast cancer on Friday November 9,  2012 in Oswego, NY, one week short of her 76 birthday.

Donna was born on November 17, 1936, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Franklyn E. and Helen Gabor Wright.

On April 22, 1957, she married William F. Flack in Oswego.

Donna was educated at the State College at Oswego, where she studied education.

She taught elementary school for more than 25 years throughout the northeast, including New York City, Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh, and Red Creek, NY.

She retired from Harris Hill Elementary School in Penfield, NY, in 1992.

She loved her grandchildren, traveling far and wide, and returning home to Florida and Fair Haven.

She also loved the music of Chuck Mangione.

Donna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Laura Gibson.

She is survived by her sons and their spouses, William F. Flack Jr. (Deirdre O’Connor) and Brandon W. Flack (Cindy); three grandchildren, William D. Flack, Lillian C. Flack and Dylan W. Flack; brother, Frank Wright (Peggy); sister, Sandra Steele (Tom); sister-in-law Sharon Flack-Hall (Bruce); brother-in-law, Larry Flack (Sue); sister-in-law, Joan Flack; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church, 103 W. Seventh St., Oswego.

Burial will be in Springbrook Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Monday at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

The family would like to thank the Seneca Hill nursing staff and her devoted caregiver, Tracy Spath.

Barclay: It Is Time To Put More Teeth Into Assembly’s Ethics Committee After Latest Public Scandal

Assemblyman Will Barclay said today the ethic’s oversight in the state Assembly is inadequate and needs to be reformed in order to protect the public’s interest, not political interest.
