OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning has partnered with Lunar Cow Design, Inc. to create a realistic virtual magazine of two of its publications.

The 2012 “Fishing & Hunting Guide” and the very popular “Hiking Trails” brochure and trail map can now be easily accessed through a computer and are posted on the Oswego County Tourism web site at http://visitoswegocounty.com/about/brochures/

“These new online publications are completely interactive and do not share the PDF style of other pamphlets,” said director David Turner. “The pages turn with one click as people navigate through them. Convenient options allow the user to add sticky notes, bookmark favorite pages, search the publication using key phrases, and print sections of interest as opposed to the entire magazine.”

Throughout the digital fishing and hunting guide are hyperlinks which blend in to provide visual aesthetics and link directly to the web site of the subject.

“This feature allows people to visit web sites and email charter captains, river guides and other businesses directly from the Fishing and Hunting Guide. It keeps people on our web site longer, and helps them find the information they’re looking for,” said Turner. “We hope to convert additional publications to this interactive format so that all of our current and potential visitors can enjoy the advantages this format brings to their web site experience.”

Display ads located in the back pages of the “Fishing & Hunting Guide” send viewers to the business’s web site, making it convenient for people who want to know more about an advertiser’s business.

The tourism web site, www.visitoswegocounty.com, also features current fishing conditions, restaurants, lodging, museums, community events, agritourism businesses, and visitor information for businesses and attractions throughout Oswego County.
