Members of the the Oswego Kayakers Club and visiting paddlers, launch their kayaks just north of the Battle Island area. A group of outdoor enthusiasts got out to enjoy the weather on Oswego River the other day. They took advantage of the Indian Summer like weather we experienced in the middle of November. Usually at this time of year we are seeing more than nine inches of snow – not kyakers paddling on the Oswego River.A Nice Day for a Paddle

Twelve SUNY Oswego students received Empire State Diversity Honors Scholarships this year. The State University of New York scholarship is direct aid to attract and retain undergraduate students from a broad range of backgrounds who have demonstrated high academic achievement and contribute to the diversity of the student body.
John Canale, author of “A Life’s Journey, Battle of the Bulge and Youth” along with the newer “A Handbook on Participation in Government in Oswego Politics,” will appear at the Oswego Public Library the evening of May 29.

Jessica Naioti had trouble finding childcare for her 2 ½ year old son, Benjamin. Seeing this need for drop-in childcare in Oswego County, as well as a place for teens to hang out inspired the idea for Sunshine Community and Childcare Center, located on Schuyler Street in the former Red’s Videos storefront.
The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified home health care, long-term home health care, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.
