Fulton Speed Demons earn swimmers of the week honors

The Fulton YMCA Speed Demons traveled to Oneonta recently to swim against the Oneonta Orcas.

During the meet, several Fulton swimmers were recognized as swimmers of the week.

To earn the recognition, a swimmer must improve in their events or achieve a time in an event that qualifies them for the YMCA state meet in March.

Swimmers of the week included Josh Hotaling, Jake Strauss, Tim McAfee, Calinda Ceterski, Alex Semchenko, Kayla Dingman, Annaliese Archer, Mallory Curtis, Mallory Upcraft, Luvlee Croci, Ella Henderson, Carolyn Zedack, Rimma Mankiewicz, Nathan Boyer, Courtney Pierce and Hailey Mason.

The Speed Demons will travel to Cortland to participate in their next and last swim meet of the season: The Central New York District YMCA Swimming Championship Meet in which almost 500 swimmers from all eight Central New York YMCA swim teams compete will be hosted by the Fulton Speed Demons.

The eight teams who will participate include Fulton, Auburn, Cortland, Norwich, Oneonta, Oneida, Oswego, and Watertown.

Barclay: It Is Time To Put More Teeth Into Assembly’s Ethics Committee After Latest Public Scandal

Assemblyman Will Barclay said today the ethic’s oversight in the state Assembly is inadequate and needs to be reformed in order to protect the public’s interest, not political interest.
