Paul R. ‘Rick’ Stoner, 65

OSWEGO, NY – Paul R. “Rick” Stoner, 65, a resident of West Seventh Street, Oswego, passed away on Friday December 21, 2012, at St.Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse.

Born in Oswego, he was the son of the late Bertram and Christine (Boardway) Stoner.

He was a graduate of Oswego Catholic High School and he received a degree in Criminal Justice from the Auburn Community College.

Mr. Stoner retired as an investigator with the New York State Police after 25 years of service.

He was also the coordinator of the Stop Oswego County DWI Program retiring in December 2011.

He was a member of the Farternal Order of Police Oswego County Lodge #1, a board member of the COCOAA and was appointed to the Governor’s Traffic Safety Council.

Rick was an avid collector of old toys.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, the former Kathleen Armstrong; a daughter, Michelle (Jeffrey) Murray of New Hampshire; a son, Paul Richard Stoner of Oswego; one sister, Cheryl (George) Knopp of Oswego; three grandchildren, Alexis Murray, Emily Murray and Isabelle Murray; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Dowdle Funeral Home on Thursday from 4-7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be to the American Heart Association 100 Northern Concourse, North Syracuse, NY 13212 or St. Mary’s Church, 103 W. Seventh St., Oswego N.Y. 13126.
