Haris Mobeen provides Hospitalist Care at Oswego Hospital

OSWEGO, NY – Haris Mobeen, MD., has joined Oswego Hospital as a full-time hospitalist.

Dr. Mobeen originally provided care at Oswego Hospital as a hospitalist on a per diem basis and after completing a critical care medical fellowship at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, has accepted a full-time hospitalist position at the local hospital.

“When I started working at Oswego Hospital two years ago, I found I liked its size as it allowed me to get to know both the people I worked with as well as those I provide care to,” Dr. Mobeen said. “As a hospitalist I enjoy caring for a broad spectrum of patients.”

His recent critical care fellowship provided him with specialized training to treat the hospital’s intensive care patients.

Dr. Mobeen earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) at Rawalpindi Medical College, the University of Punjab, located in Pakistan.

Before he immigrated to the United States, he worked at Holy Family Hospital, at a private medical practice and served as an anatomy instructor at Foundation Medical College in Pakistan.

After his arrival in the U.S., he completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at Penn State University’s Hershey Medical Center, in Hershey, Pa.

During his residency, he served as chief medical resident and was a clinical instructor.

Dr. Mobeen has also fulfilled a fellowship in nephrology at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.

As a hospitalist, Dr. Mobeen cares for inpatients at Oswego Hospital, whose primary care physicians have opted to take advantage of the healthcare facility’s hospitalist program.

It has become a trend throughout the country in recent years for primary care physicians to have hospitalists care for their hospitalized patients, allowing them to remain in their offices during the daytime and eliminating their hospital on-call duties.

Oswego Hospital implemented a hospitalist program in 2009.

Dr. Mobeen, like the vast majority other hospitalists at Oswego Hospital is a board-certified internist.

A member of the hospitalist team is always in the hospital and is able to provide care, including the ordering of tests and procedures.

Since a hospitalist is always available, they can conveniently discuss the plan of care with the patient and their visiting family members.

Dr. Mobeen said he enjoys spending his spare time with his wife, and young sons and reading.
