Marilyn J. Mellen, 80

OSWEGO, NY – Marilyn J. Mellen, 80, of Oswego, passed away Sunday December 23, 2012, at Oswego Hospital.

Born in Fulton, NY, she was the daughter of the late Edwin Smith Sr. and Mary (Andrews) Smith.

She was employed at Hillcrest Nursing home for eight years.

She enjoyed gambling, scratch off tickets and gardening.

Surviving are three daughters, Deborah (David) Shannon of Town of Oswego, Mary Elizabeth (James) Gardner of Syracuse and Diane (Jon Secrest) Henry of Town of Oswego; one brother, David L. Smith of Annapolis, Md.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husband, Hollis M. Mellen, on December 13, 2012. She was also predeceased by her son, Steven; and brother, Edwin R. Smith Jr.

Calling hour will be held 3-5 p.m. Wednesday, at the Nelson Funeral Home, with a service to follow.

Spring burial will be in Oswego Town Rural Cemetery.
