Ellis A. Walberger, 84

PHOENIX, NY – Ellis  A. Walberger, 84, of Kent Street, Phoenix, NY, passed away peacefully Saturday December 22, 2012, at home home with his family by his side.

Born in Otisco, NY, to his late parents, Lillian (Kinney) and Walter Walberger Sr.

He was a US Navy veteran and served during World War II.

Ellis was a supervisor for Carrier Corp., Syracuse, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of the Northside Baptist Church, where he served proudly in many capacities.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Pauline M. (Waldron), on January 6, 1996; an infant son, Mark Walberger, in 1959; a sister, Helen Walberger, in 1928; his brothers, William in 1986, Arthur in 2004 and Walter Jr., in 2012.

Surviving are his loving wife of 14 years, Delia E. “Dee” Walberger; Dee’s daughters, Olivia Thomas of Syracuse and Dana Jane Thomas of Phoenix; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth L. and Georgianne Walberger of Pennellville; a daughter, Karen M. Dates of  Pennellville; his grandchildren, Keith (Denise) Walberger, Todd (Jamie) Walberger, Stephen (Sherie) Dates and Joelle (Ryan) Hendry; his great-grand
children, Devan, Cameran, Kennedy, Madilynn, Kerrigan, Kendall and Kole; his sisters,
Marge Beak of Syracuse, Jennie Brown of Phoenix and Katherine Lindley of Woodstown, NJ; several nieces, nephews, cousins; and his church family.

Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Northside Baptist Church, 7965 Oswego Road, Liverpool, NY.

Funeral service will be in the church, the next day, Friday at 10 a.m.

Burial with military honors in Riverview Cemetery, 70 Tappan St., Baldwinsville, following the funeral.

Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix, has charge of arrangements.

Voters OK Oswego School Budget – Elect Incumbents and Newcomer to the Board

The Oswego City School District’s 2013-14 budget was overwhelmingly approved by the voters Tuesday night. The unofficial results were 1,131 yes to 407 no. Voters also re-elected Kathleen Allen and Jim Tschudy. Heather DelConte was the second highest vote-getter.

Oswego School Board Moves Ahead With Big Picture School Lease Plan

The district is submitting its plan to the Supreme Court and State Education Department soon. District officials believe things will go smoothly and the school will be able to open at its new location, at 80 Dutch Road in the town of Scriba, in time for the start of the 2013-14 school year.
