Oswego State swimming and diving teams close out regular season

GENESEO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams competed at the Geneseo Invitational on Saturday in their final competition leading up to the SUNYAC Championships.

The Laker men took third at 231 points, while the women placed fourth after tallying 144.5
points.

Andrew Minnick (Jr., Latham, N.Y.) led the way for the Lakers, claiming the team’s lone individual title. Minnick touched in a time of 1:50.52 to win the 200 freestyle.

Austin Nau (Fr., Rochester, N.Y.) took third place in the 100 backstroke with a time of 59.67. Niklas Hesse (Fr., Stony Brook, N.Y.) had an impressive showing in the 100 breaststroke, clocking a time of 1:04.14 which earned third place.

Justin Berrios (So., Bronx, N.Y.) had an outstanding day on the diving boards. He placed third on both boards with scores of 378.15 in the 1-meter event and 222.45 in the 3-meter event.

Minnick and Nau teamed with Matt Pamlanye (Jr., Holbrook, N.Y.) and Zach Gerber (Fr., Oswego, N.Y.) to finish third in the 400 freestyle relay, posting a time of 3:25.79.

The Lakers will now prepare for the SUNYAC Championship meet which begins February 20 in Buffalo.

Troopers Investigate Fatal Car Crash in Oswego County

The investigation revealed a 2000 Ford F-150 was located by the Constantia Fire Chief off the west side shoulder of the roadway, overturned and partially submerged in Scriba Creek. The driver was located by fire personnel, partially ejected from the vehicle submerged under water.
