Positively Parish News – Week of March 8, 2013

Get well wishes are extended to Haiden Fullmer and John Piseski.

My condolences are extended to the family and friends of James P. Salter, Ward Charles Beley, class of 1954; Robert J. “Bob” Boyer, class of 1950; and Sandra M Klein.

Yes! Yes!! Yes!! I have returned to work after five long months of healing and rehabilitating.

I am thrilled to be able to visit with my senior friends and co-workers at OCO once again.

Please give me a call (625-4617) and make a reservation and come for lunch and a good tongue wagging session.

I feel very blessed and would like to thank everyone for their help, prayers and patience.

So many positive things are finally coming to Parish. Have you been a part of the conversations?

Parish Medical Center Expansion, Dollar General, Subway, BioSpherix and finally high-speed internet with New Visions is in our future!

The Parish Volunteer Fire Company will host another delicious all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast on St. Patty’s Day – Sunday March 17 from 8 – 11:30 a.m. to be held at their fire station on 16 Union St.

Prices: family – $22, seniors – $6, children (4-12) – $4.50, 3 and under – free.

On March 20 the Parish Dining and Activity Center, 814 Rider St. will be open and serving lunch for the annual “Mayor For Meals” day.

This is the time of year we bring recognition to our seniors that receive Meals on Wheels. I have invited Mayor Leon Heagle and many, many more political dignitaries to assist with delivering meals or serving meals at the congregate site.

This was very well attended last year and I hope to see even more turn out this year.

If you stop by Parish Key Bank between March 18 and 31, check out our display and please take a moment and sign our pledge to end senior hunger!

Community Health and Safety Fair will be held on March 23.

The fair will operate from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Parish Volunteer Fire Company Fire Station on 16 Union St., Parish.

Participants can begin setting up at 9 a.m.

The fair is organized and sponsored through the combined efforts of the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Faculty Association and the Pulaski Teachers’ Association with the purpose of promoting healthy living in Northern Oswego County.

As professionals committed to excellence in education, they firmly believe knowledge is empowering.

If you have any questions regarding the fair, please feel free to contact Jeanne Revette, local action project coordinator for the APWFA (315-657-1028 jrevette@apw.cnyric.org) or Sandra McCullough, local action project coordinator for the Pulaski TA (315-243-1762 smccullo@pacs.cnyric.org).

The Half-shire Historical Society has many projects going on.

Here is a couple that you might find interesting in getting involved with:

Local World War II vets and their stories or the compiled cookbook which will include recipes with a picture and short profile of the cook.

Contact me or Shawn Doyle for more information.
