‘The Best Man’ Candidates Campaign in Oswego

OSWEGO, NY – You may have thought the campaign season was over with the election, but cast members of the Oswego Players’ next production, “The Best Man,” by Gore Vidal have other ideas.

The Cantwell and Russell teams will be on the campaign trail scheming,  planning and backstabbing up until the curtain rises on opening night, April 12.

The “Cantwell for President” team – Kyle Walton and Amy Price.

They even have campaign headquarters and events planned at the Coffee Nook, Rivers End Bookstore and the YMCA.

More details will be forthcoming as they become available.

Presidential candidate Joseph Cantwell is played by Kyle Walton.

Walton is pleased to be back on stage after appearing in the first show of the Players 75th anniversary season as Max in “Dial M for Murder.”

This is his sixth show with the group and past appearances include “Miracle on 34th Street,” “One Flew over the Cuckoo’s Nest,” “Play On” and “To Kill a Mockingbird” as well as Fulton Community Theatre’s, “Bedside Manners.”

He is employed as athletics director for the Oswego YMCA and is the mastermind behind the annual “Halloween at the Y” event.  Walton states he truly cherishes his role as an “ambassador” to the diverse community he has spent the last ten years serving.

Amy Price appears as Cantwell’s Barbie doll type wife.

Price has recently relocated to the Oswego area, and serves as youth director for the Oswego YMCA.

She also is director of the Kids on Stage program for CNY Arts Center in Fulton.

She is happy to be back on stage after serving as director, stage manager, set designer or technical assistant for the past 13 years.

Her stage credits include “Cinderella,” “Up the Down Staircase,” “Once Upon a Mattress,” “Harvey,” “The Sound of Music” and “Little Shop of Horrors.”

Price has a passion for the dance which she studied at the University of Georgia.

She has served as choreographer for theatre companies across the East for “Grease,” “Guys and Dolls,” “Annie,” “Big River,” “Bye Bye Birdie” and Godspell.  She is also a published poet and an avid reader.

A very talented and busy lady indeed.

Other cast members include Nick Pike, Beverly Murtha, Sara Sheffield, Aaron Londraville and Jacob Luria.  In addition, Norman Berlin III, Kevina Schleicher, Spring Pigeon, Michael Moss, Heather Steel, Shane Craig and Tammy Wilkinson.

Production dates are April 12, 13 and 19, 20 at 8 p.m. and April 21 at 2 p.m.

Tickets are $10/adults, $8/seniors and 7/students.

Reservations are recommended and can be made at the Players’ Box Office (343-5138).

Support has been generously provided by Pathfinder Bank toward the Oswego Players’ 75th season productions.
