Oswego Lions Club Annual Wine and Beer Tasting With Silent Auction Set for American Foundry

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego Lions Club will hold its 15th annual Wine and Beer tasting with silent auction March 22 at the American Foundry.

The event is scheduled for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with pre-sale tickets $15 and $20 at the door the night of the event.

Pre-sale tickets are available at Cakes Galore or from any Lions Club member.

Each person will be provided a complimentary wine glass or beer mug at the door.

“The Oswego Lions Club is looking forward to the Wine and Beer tasting with silent auction again this year,” said Steve Jurivich, president of the local chapter of Lions International. “The event has truly become one that the entire community looks forward to each March.”

The annual event will once again showcase many of the area’s finest beer vendors and New York State wineries including Fulkerson Winery, Americana Vineyards, Buttonwood Grove Winery, Anthony Road Wine Company, and Young and Somers Winery, Eagle Beverage and Onondaga Beverage.

A “new” tasting this year will feature “Taste the Word,” offering coffee tastings with Iced Coffee and Irish Coffee. They offer a very unique way of brewing iced coffee, with many special styles and flavors.

Many wines and coffees with be available for purchase.

The popular silent auction will feature many donated items from businesses throughout the area.

Items to be auctioned off will include Gift Certificates from many restaurants in the area such as Blue Moon Grill, Port City Café, The Red Sun and Mimi’s Drive In to name a few. Ray’s Furniture Perk has donated Restored Antique chairs and a Doll/Trophy Case.

There are gift baskets from Devine Designs by Gail, Green Planet Grocery, The Coffee Connection and Harbor Towne Gifts.

Cakes Galore has donated a “cake a month for a year,” Riverview Wellness donated 60 minute signature facial, and there is admission tickets to Darien Lake and many more items to bid on.

As we have for the past few years, there will be a live auction at the end of the event with local auctioneer Ted Sivers.

The featured live auction this year will be a dinner for four at the high bidders home, courtesy of Bill Wadsworth, Restaurateur of Bistro 197.

Bill was born and raised in Oswego and is a graduate of Oswego State University and Capella University. He is an untrained food enthusiast and opened his first restaurant at age 27 – Avanti Bistro. He opened Bistro 197 in November 2011.  Come bid on this “Lover of great food and great wine.”

This personalized meal will include appetizers, dinner and dessert.

Another featured item for our live auction will be a wine cellar with over 20 bottles of wine and a wine refrigerator.

“We appreciate the donations that the many local businesses within the community have provided again this year,” said Hammond. “The business owners and managers continue to recognize the important role our club maintains within this community, and their donations and sponsorships show their commitment.”

Complimentary appetizers will be provided.

A cash bar will also will be available at The American Foundry.
