Since taking office 100 days ago, Maffei has held round table discussions on job creation in all four counties throughout the 24th Congressional district.

He met with more than 150 local business owners and economic development leaders and listened to their thoughts and ideas about how to create more jobs and grow Central New York’s economy.

“Central New York is the best place in the world to live, work, raise a family, and retire.  I ran for Congress because I want to make sure it stays that way,” said Rep. Maffei. “Central New Yorkers told me their top issues were growing our middle class, creating new, good-paying jobs, and spurring our region’s economy. That is why my first action was to kick off a district-wide listening tour focused on job creation. The recommendations made in this plan are derived from what I heard over the last 100 days.”

Maffei’s jobs plan includes detailed information on the district-wide listening tour as well as an accounting of the input and suggestions local business owners and economic leaders gave at each event.

The report identifies five keys to a strong economy: investment in small businesses, fostering partnerships and collaboration, enhancing education and workforce development, improving infrastructure and transportation, and utilizing Central New York’s unique competitive advantage.

The report also makes policy and legislative recommendations for creating more jobs and growing Central New York’s economy.

Rep. Maffei said, “After traveling throughout the district and meeting with more than 150 Central New York business leaders and small business owners during the last 100 days, I am committed to doing everything I can to implement their recommendations which we’ve laid out in this report. I look forward to continuing to work together so that we can make these goals for Central New York a reality.”

In the coming weeks and months Maffei will be working with local partners in the district and drafting legislation to advance these recommendations to create more jobs. missing or outdated ad config
