Columbia Silver Award to OHS Yearbook

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego High School Yearbook Club was recently recognized for the quality of the 2012 production of “The Paradox.”

Yearbook team members traveled to New York City to attend classes and seminars at Columbia University related to yearbook production, graphic design and journalism.

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association annually conducts this prestigious conference, as well as recognizes select programs from entries received from middle and high schools throughout the entire United States.

The Paradox was awarded a Silver level recognition, identifying it as a member of the top 20% of the programs nationally.

In addition, yearbook club member Chrissy Abare received three national awards for her photography and artwork entered  in competition.

Advisor Warren Shaw said, “ It is very rewarding to see the hard work and effort of our Oswego students recognized at a national level. We are among the top ten programs in New York State and we will continue to work to get even better in our efforts to achieve a gold level nationally. It is also gratifying to see Chrissy  receive recognition as being among the best of the best. She is a great representative for our school and our community.”

Continuing he said, “We greatly appreciate the support and encouragement of our Principal Brian Hartwell, as well as the support from our school board members. This would not happen without them.”

The 2013 edition of the Paradox was just completed last week, and the hard working members of the OHS Yearbook Club have already begun work on the 2014 edition.
