The first River’s Edge Craft show was a huge success!

The music from the bands was wonderful, the kids enjoyed playing on the inflatable slide, and buyers were thrilled with the quality and workmanship of all the crafts.

The “Best of Show“ award went to Charlotte Besaw of Hand Candy Mittens.

She received free booth rental for this year’s show.

All of the vendors commented on how well organized and how well run the show was, and many said they would be back for the 2013 show.

Well, this year, planning of the second show, sponsored by The Oswego Lions Club, is well under way.

We have moved to an even bigger venue this year right on the Oswego River, West Linear Park.

We are expecting many of the same vendors as last year and we also have many new crafters added to the mix.

Johnny Luber and his band the Lubricators will be playing all afternoon, and there will be food, and fun for the entire family.

There will be more than 40 craft, food and wine vendors including “hand poured candles, homemade dips, and sauces, wood-turned kitchen items, florals, cookies, wood creations, outdoor wood furniture and crafts, soaps and lotions, jewelry, canvas bags, homemade purses, tie dye shoes and clothing, handmade children’s clothes, and many more wonderful hand-crafted items.

Many vendors coming from as far away as Watertown and Syracuse.

This year our wine vendors will be from Americana and Lakeland Wineries, and Blowing Smoke Bar-B-Q, Robert and Amanda Reczko will return as our food vendors with the addition of Barlow’s concessions.

As with all of The Oswego Lions Club events, we are expecting big crowds again this year. We hope you will stop by and help with this worthwhile effort to raise money to help with all the community services we do.

Established in 1917, Lions International consists of 45,000 Lions Clubs worldwide with a membership of 1.4 million volunteers.  Local chapters of the club are committed to serving the disabled, including those with visual impairments, hearing loss and other handicaps.  The funds raised from booth rentals support our administration fund, which will help support our efforts in serving individuals as well as organizations throughout our community.

“With your help and support, we can make this event a huge success once again this year, and that will allow us to fulfill our mission and continue to provide services needed most in our community,” said Denise Constanza, show chairperson.

Proceeds from past fund-raising Lions Club events have helped to support Camp Hollis, Children’s Fund at Oswego Hospital, Oswego Salvation Army, The Elementary School Drug Free Program, the “H” and Mary Dowd scholarship fund as well as provide eyeglasses and hearing aids to individuals in need,  just to mention a few.
