A pinning and recognition ceremony was held in early June to honor Career and Technical Education students completing the Nursing Assistant program at Oswego County BOCES.
Lead Nursing Assistant Instructor Lori Giverson and RN Clinical Instructors Patricia Brancato and Barbara Smith honored students at the ceremony for their hard work and dedication to educational excellence.
Each honoree was presented with a Cadusa pin and confirmed their completion of the program by reciting the Nightingale Pledge, a traditional oath taken by new nurses.
The OCB Nursing Assistant program combines classroom theory with work-based learning opportunities to provide high school students with the skills needed to obtain the New York State Nurse Aide Certification and begin a career in the healthcare industry.
Students in the program gain first-hand knowledge about the nursing profession through clinical experiences in area hospitals and long-term care facilities.
