David F. Baptista, 53

OSWEGO, NY – David F. Baptista, 53, a resident of 102 E. Ninth St., Oswego, passed away Monday evening June 10, 2013, at Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.

Mr. Baptista was born in New London, Conn., and was a graduate of New London High School.

He had lived in Oswego for more than 25 years.

He was a self-employed contractor and was the former owner of D&D Contracting in Oswego.

He had also worked as an auto body mechanic.

He was an avid softball player and also coached many local women’s softball teams.

He is survived by his mother, Yvonne (Walter) White of Florida; his father, Donald (Nancy) Baptista Sr. of Oswego; six daughters, Venice Richards of Florida, Michelle Coley of North Carolina, Heidi Blankshain of North Carolina, Helen Blankshain of North Carolina, Denise Baptista of North Carolina and Lindsey Baptista of Oneida; two sons, Jason Barkley of Fulton and David Baptista of Oswego; three brothers, Donald Baptista Jr. of Fulton, Wayne White of Florida and Eric White of Florida; four sisters, Donna Mayton of Arizona, Diane Albright of Colorado; Denise Baron of North Carolina and Tatra Baptista of Oswego; his partner of three years, Judi Farrell, with whom he resided; 20 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Raymond Baptista.

Funeral services are private.

  1. David you will be missed by so many that love you. I will always remember the good times. The way that you called me Fishy, or wiggled your hand. David you are a special person. You will always be remembered and never forgotten. Love you Birdy.
