Amelia Michelle Wade Scholarship Recipients for the Class of 2013

Amelia Michelle Wade, a junior at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School, unexpectedly passed away in October of 2010 from secondary pulmonary hypertension (PH).

To honor her memory and raise awareness of the disease, her parents, Eric and Valerie Wade, along with their daughter, Kara, have set up a scholarship in Amelia’s name to be awarded to APW High School seniors who exhibit exceptional character and plan to enter the medical field.

This year’s recipients include: Kaitlee Benedetto, Victoria Stanton, and Rebecca Trexler.

A portion of the proceeds raised from APW staff member “denim Fridays” along with a special “Wear Purple for Amelia Day” contributed to the scholarship awards.

Students and staff members at the district’s two buildings donated money to the Amelia Wade Scholarship Fund and celebrated her life by wearing the color purple, which is the color for Pulmonary Hypertension.

The scholarship awards were presented to the recipients by Valerie Wade as a recent senior awards banquet.
