Wreath laying at Oswego County 147th’s monument Set In Gettysburg

On July 1, the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg, Oswego Town Historian George R. DeMass will officiate at a wreath-laying ceremony at the Oswego County 147th monument in Gettysburg.

The 147th New York volunteers, Oswego County’s own, was heavily engaged in the three-day battle.

The monument is located by the railroad cut on Buford Ave. in the village.

The ceremony is set for 11 a.m.

DeMass particiapted in a similar ceremony 50 years ago as part of the Oswego County  Civil War Centennial Commitee chaired by Francis T. Riley.
