Oswego Man Not Ticketed In Accident That Killed A Woman

An Oswego man couldn’t stop in time to avoid hitting a woman lying in the middle of Route 48 in Onondaga County.

The Onondaga County Sheriff’s Department reports that Robert Malone, Jr., 34, of Oswego was driving on Route 48 near Kellogg Road at around 2:30 a.m. Monday.

He and two co-workers were heading home from work, police say.

Malone spotted a person lying in the middle of the road but was unable to stop his Ford F-150 pickup in time to avoid hitting her.  He stopped immediately afterwards and called 911.

Melissa A. Larose, 31, of 8876 Oswego Road, Lysander was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police continue to investigate the accident but say Malone is not expected to be ticketed.

  1. He’ll probably feel badly for the rest of his life, even though he didn’t do anything wrong. Such a shame.

  2. Such a shame and so sorry it happened to someone like Rob – such a GREAT guy!! He will have to carry this for the rest of his life and that is a shame. He is surrounded by many friends that will support him through this and I am one of them.
