On 10/23/09 at 8:18 a.m., Randy A. Schouten, 26, of 3273 US Route 11, Mexico, NY, was arrested at his residence based on a bench warrant issued by Oswego County Court, charging him with felony DWI. Mr. Schouten was arraigned before the Hon. Walter Hafner, Oswego County Court, and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to return to court on 1/11/09.

On 10/23/09 at 11:00 a.m., Charles R. Updike, 31, of 40 Barber St., Auburn, NY, was arrested at the Cayuga County Correctional Facility based on a warrant issued by Oswego City Court charging him with Criminal Contempt, Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor. On 10/23/09 at 1:24 p.m., Jason M. Green 21, of 19 Whig Hill Road, West Monroe, NY, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree (license suspended 10/04/09, twice, for failing to answer a summons in the Town of Clay and once on 7/15/09 for failing to answer a summons in the Town of Mexico); Operation While Registration Suspended (registration suspended 10/07/09 for invalid proof of insurance); and Operation Without Insurance, following a traffic stop after a License Plate Reader targeted his vehicle as he drove on CR 32 in the Town of Hastings. On 10/23/09 at 7:59 p.m., Jeffery S. Miles, 44, of 290 Paradise Road, Fulton, NY, was served a Criminal Summons issued by Town of Palermo Court charging him with Harassment, Second Degree, a violation. Mr. Miles is scheduled to appear before Town of Palermo Court on 10/26/09 to answer the summons. The arrest stems from a domestic incident that occurred on 10/08/09 when he was accused of engaging in an argument, reportedly shaking the victim.

On 10/24/09, Darren J. Shuman, 21, of 400 Niles Pond Road, Honesdale, Pa., was operating a 2003 Dodge pickup truck westbound on Howard Road in the Town of Volney at 10:43 a.m. when he reportedly failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of CR 176, then traveled through the intersection and collided with an southbound 2007 Ford suburban driven by Michael C. Carter, 38, of 4237 Mayfair Circle, Liverpool, NY. The impact caused the Dodge to slide down a ditch, coming to rest on its driver’s side while the Ford came to rest in the intersection. Unsafe speed and slippery pavement appear to have been contributing factors with road conditions reportedly wet from rain at the time. Mr. Shuman was ticketed for Failed to Stop for a Stop Sign.

On 10/24/09 at 1:06 p.m., William J. Murray, 51, of 285 SR 48, Fulton, NY, was arrested for Petit Larceny and Issuing a False Written Statement, both class A misdemeanors, after he allegedly stole cash from a vehicle he had towed during a drug investigation that took place in September, then denied in writing that he had stolen the cash. Mr. Murray was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charge before Town of Granby Court on 11/09/09.

On 10/25/09, Theresa A. Akarpinar, 41, of 7623 SR 104 West, Lot 4, Oswego, NY, was parked on the east side of SR 48 in the Town of Granby at 1:55 p.m. when she collided with a 2009 Dodge being driven northbound on SR 48 by Erin McKinstry, 32, of 3779 CR 45, Oswego, NY. The incident occurred 50 feet north of CR 85 as Ms. Akarpinar reportedly attempted to enter the roadway to drive on the west side of SR 48. Mr. Akarpinar was ticketed for Failure to Yield Right of Way Entering Another Road.
