Oct 28, 2009 at 8:50 am

On 10/24/09, Corey M. Bateman, 20, of 186 Tudo Road, Mexico, NY, was operating a 2003 GMC pickup truck westbound on Markowitz Road in the Town of Mexico at 6:30 a.m. when he reportedly drove off the roadway into a swamp, striking several trees with the right front of the vehicle, then leaving the scene. The incident occurred 2/10 of a mile east of LaRobardiere Road. Animal’s action is reported as a contributing factor in the incident with a deer allegedly running in front of the vehicle. Mr. Bateman was ticketed for Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident.

On 10/27/09 at 7:39 p.m., Vanessa H. Wahrendorf, 24, of 112 E. Cayuga St., Oswego, NY, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree (license suspended 9/23/09 for failing to answer a summons in the City of Fulton), and Passed a Red Signal, following a traffic stop on SR 481 in the City of Fulton. Ms. Wahrendorf was released on tickets returnable to Fulton City Court on 11/11/09.

On 10/27/09 at 9:15 p.m. Anthony E. Miller, 19, of 249 Peck Road, Pulaski, NY, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree (license suspended 7/24/09 for failing to answer a summons in the Town of Richland), and Inadequate Lights, following a traffic stop on SR 104 in the Town of Scriba after he was observed driving a pickup truck with no passenger side headlight. Mr. Miller was issued tickets returnable to Town of Scriba Court on 11/12/09 and released to a third party.

On 10/28/09 at 12:45 a.m., a 14 year old male residing in the Town of Hannibal was issued a Juvenile Appearance Ticket based on charges that, if an adult, would constitute the crimes of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, Seventh Degree, a class A misdemeanor; Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Third Degree, a class A misdemeanor; Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle, Third Degree, a class A misdemeanor; and Reckless Driving, an Unclassified Misdemeanor. The youth was instructed to contact the Oswego County Probation Department on 10/28/09 for further processing. The charges were the result of a vehicle pursuit that began when he allegedly ignored lights and sirens in an attempt to have him stop while operating a vehicle on Rathburn Road in the Town of Granby. Before he was observed driving, he had initially been observed sitting behind the wheel of the vehicle as it was parked with lights off in the parking lot at the Citgo Gas Station near Junior Avenue. The youth was reported to be driving at high rates of speed, allegedly not slowing or stopping for the intersections at CR 85, Furniss Station Road, or CR 20. He was finally halted when he failed to negotiate a left hand turn under the train trestle bridge as it narrowed to one lane in the Town of Oswego where he struck several trees straight ahead of him. The vehicle he was driving was reportedly taken without permission from his residence and the youth was found to be in possession of marijuana.
