Lenten Luncheons Begin March 13

OSWEGO – “Yes, we are doing the Lenten Luncheons again this year,” said Inez Parker of the Church of the Resurrection in Oswego.

Church to host Lenten Luncheons

The popular Wednesday luncheons will begin March 13 and continue each Wednesday through April 10.

Each will begin at 11:30 a.m. in the Great Hall of the Church of the Resurrection (corner of West Fifth and Cayuga streets) and continue until the variety of home-cooked meatless dishes are gone.

Macaroni and cheese is a mainstay, and the menu typically includes vegetable dishes, scalloped potatoes, quick breads, and deviled eggs.

Homemade pie and coffee crown the meal.

Cost is $8.

Takeout is available.

Lent begins after Shrove Tuesday, also known as Mardi Gras, with Ash Wednesday on March 6.

That day the Church of the Resurrection will hold services with dispensation of ashes at 7 a.m., noon and 5:30 p.m.

All are welcome.
