Douglas L. Hyde, 92

FULTON, NY – Douglas L. Hyde, 92, of Fulton, passed away peacefully Friday, March 8, 2019, at Crown Nursing home, Cortland, NY, with his loving family and Crown staff by his side.

He was born in Fulton, January 3, 1927, the son of late Merle and Ruth Abel Hyde.

He was a World War II veteran, US Army. Drafted at age 17 and stationed Yokohama, Japan, where he served as a communications Technician Sergeant.

He returned from war and finished high school at Robert Wesleyan College, Rochester, NY.

He was the successful sole proprietor of Hyde Radiator Service for more than 40 years; after retiring in 1988, he and Louise were part-time residents of Inverness, Fla., for six years.

He was a life member of VFW, served as Assistant Scout Master, Boy Scout Troop 764, for 15 years, and brief member of Fulton Amateur Radio Club.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Hyde, married August 17, 1952; sister, Joan Cole, Houston, Texas; four sons, Lee Hyde, Durham, NC, Kevin Hyde, Missoula, Mont., Brian Hyde, Clay, NY, and Gregg Hyde, Leesburg, Va., and by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

All family and friends are welcome to gather to celebrate life from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, March 15, at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton, with military honors at 2 p.m.

A spring burial will be in Mount Adnah Cemetery, Fulton.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing may donate to Oswego County Meals on Wheels, 239 Oneida St., Fulton, NY 13069 in memory of Douglas.
