OSWEGO – Fold a paperback book into an object, find your creative muse or encourage a student’s interest in writing at upcoming “Learn To” sessions at the Oswego Library.
Book origami is back by popular demand with four sessions scheduled April 2, 9, 23 and 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Interested participants ages 8 and older may sign up for one or more sessions.
Instructor Chris Koagal of Red Creek, owner of a handcrafted gifts and novelties business, advises class size is limited to 10 to 15 participants at each session.
Local author Jim Farfaglia will work with students in grades 6 through 9 to explore the art of writing in four sessions concluding April 25.
Students will explore various genre, examine their own writing strengths and weaknesses and learn the art of editing.
A final piece will be shared by each student with parents and local dignitaries on May 2 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Aspiring poets will learn how to transform images into poetry under the guidance of Dr. Laura Donnelly, published author and an assistant professor at of SUNY Oswego.
Using images from famous works of art and personal photos as inspiration, participants will generate their own poems.
