Earth Day, Clean Sweep Events Scheduled

With Earth Day, Oswego County Earth Week and Canal Clean Sweep coming up, there are several events scheduled.

Wednesday, April 24, 9 a.m.: The Minetto Beautification Committee will be sponsoring an Earth Week and Canal Clean Sweep.

A previous Battle Island Clean Sweep with the Oswego Kaykers

The River View Park will get a spring spruce up and a litter pickup will take place along the river/canal section.

For those interested in helping, meet time is 9 a.m. at the Minetto Town Hall.

Sunday, April 28, 9:30 a.m.: Friends of Great Bear is sponsoring a spring trail clearing.

Come to Great Bear and help clear any branches and brush on the trails, enjoying a morning in the woods.

Gloves recommended and if you have loppers or bow saws please bring them.

Meet time is 9:30 a.m. at the park entrance.

Saturday, May 4, 10 a.m.: Oswego County Kayakers is sponsoring a Clean Sweep of the Battle Island area of the Oswego River.

Paddlers will meet at a nearby residence to launch their canoes and kayaks to paddle the shoreline collecting any litter found along the shoreline areas.

Leadership Oswego County will be doing landscaping work as part of the renovation of the Spring House for Earth Week and also Canal Clean Sweep (TBA).

They’ll be planting Serviceberry, donated by PLANT CNY (Professional Landscape and Nursery Trades).
