Rosa Pappalardo Kemmis, 82

FULTON, NY – Rosa Pappalardo Kemmis, 82, a lifetime resident of Fulton, passed away after a prolonged illness on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at home.

She was born in 1936 in Brooklyn, a daughter to the late Filippo and Angelina Curcuruto Pappalardo.

Rosa graduated from S.U.N.Y. Oswego with a degree in education and after a long career she retired as a teacher from the Fulton City School District.

Rosa was very active in the Fulton community, volunteering in many organizations including, Sunrise Rotary, Fulton Public Library and Holy Family Church.

She was predeceased by her brother, Leo Pappalardo; sister-in-law, Wanda Pappalardo; and brother-in-law, Robert Natoli.

Rosa is survived by her husband of 61 years, Richard Kemmis; four children, Kathleen (Alan) Francis, Karen (Terry Heany) Kemmis, Kristine (Martin) Knauss and Philip (Heather) Kemmis; eight grandchildren, Kimberly, Andrew and Kirsten Francis, Zoë and Will Knauss, Matthew, Nicholas and Celia Kemmis; two siblings, Salvatore (Rosalie) Pappalardo and Josephine Natoli; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held 4 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 12, at Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay St., Fulton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 13, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, corner of Rochester and South Third streets in Fulton.

Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Fulton.

For those wishing, donations may be made to The Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club in Rosa’s memory.
