RSVP to Offer Osteoporosis Program at New Site in Oswego

Jul 26, 2010 at 9:26 pm

OSWEGO — SUNY Oswego-based RSVP will offer its Osteoporosis Bone Builders Program 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays starting July 20 at a new site, First United Methodist Church, 7111 Route 104 West in Oswego.

The classes for those just diagnosed or with advanced osteoporosis are self-paced. Exercises aim to rebuild bone density and improve balance. Instructors provide nutrition information as well. There is a suggested contribution of 50 cents per class.

RSVP forms new classes at 22 sites around Oswego County as volunteer instructors become available and potential participants express interest.

To attend a class at First United Methodist Church, contact sector coordinators Ann Hardy at 312-2317 or Rosalia Secor at 342-1797.

Call RSVP at 312-2317 about sessions and contact information in other communities in Oswego County.

The United Way and SUNY Oswego provide local sponsorship for RSVP, a federal initiative that uses the experiences of people 55 and older for voluntarism in support of older Americans. RSVP’s office is Room 103 of Rich Hall on the college campus.
