Thanks for Great “Accentuate the Y”

Jul 26, 2010 at 9:47 pm

To the Editor:

After months of planning, the Fulton YMCA had the pleasure of hosting our fifth annual gala auction, “Accentuate the Y.” As always, a large crowd came to enjoy the evening and bid on hand painted and decorated tables. The event netted over $10,000.

There are many people to thank for the wonderful event. Harvey Fadden built many of the tables which were sponsored by local businesses and organizations and decorated by very talented people from Oswego County and surrounding areas. Special thanks go to Bob Hunter at C-Vac Filtration for the unlimited use of his building, Fred Bidwell Kustoms, and Dave Molinari of NAPA Auto Parts for the clear coating of the pieces. Carol Fox provided the delicious refreshments, Jen Patterson and Theresa Broderick baked the tasty sweets and the Tom Bronzetti Trio played for the appreciative audience. Thanks to the Polish Home for their hospitality.

Steve Chirello of Chirello Marketing and Advertising did an outstanding job of promoting the event and Dan Batchlor, our guest auctioneer, made the bidding fast and furious. Amy Robbins of 93Q provided plenty of color commentary about the artists as Emcee.

Accentuate the Y sponsors were: Foster Funeral Home, NAPA Auto Parts, Babcock Oil, C&C Metal Fabricators, C-Vac Filtration, Empower Federal Credit Union, Burke’s Home Center, Eastern Shore and Associates, A&E Transport, Steve Chirello Advertising, and HSBC USA NA. Additional sponsors were: Mimi’s Drive-In, Johnston’s Propane, Red Brick Pub/Dowd’s Flower Shop, Pathfinder Bank, Fulton Savings Bank, Family Chiropractic, Hannibal Village IGA, Canalview Travel, Dennis Hawthorne, Jr., Esq., Pinnacle Dental Group, Karen Crisafulli, Isbell & Son Drainage, Dr. Frank Fruce, Hairitage, MetLife, Oswego Valley Insurance Agency, Technical Sales Solutions, Inc. and Pool Environments, Inc. King’s Rubbish Removal, Salon 115 and Design Accents were partial sponsors.

Accentuate the Y artists were: Laureen Whitney, Sean Collins, Margaret Rusaw, Ceil Louise, Lisa Davis, Betty Green and Michelle McClave. Additional artists were: Kelly Niccoli, Tammy Wood, Janet Weldin, Amy Johnston, Cheri Pafumi, Scott Proulx, and Abby Grimshaw. Other tables were painted by Amy Ambuske, Muggins LaGrou, Anna Clarke, Ben Jerred, Meanie Taylor, Betsy Bonnie, Mike Holloway, Meagan Quirk, Lisa Wild, and Bev Isbell.

This year’s silent auction items were decorated by Sandy Clift, Bev Isbell, Pat Carson, Ceil Louise, Marion Pooler, Meanie Taylor, Margaret Rusaw, Irene Southard Lynn Coakley, Ingrid Fernandez, Charlene Mitchell and Nick Toscano. Floyd Kelly provided hand-crafted cutting boards, David Cramer donated a carved powder horn, and Dick Drosse gave a framed photo of Lake Neatawanta.

This wonderful event makes a real difference at the Fulton YMCA. It allows us to have a very positive presence in the community, gives us the opportunity to showcase wonderful artists and affords us the resources to provide quality programming at our facility and in the Fulton community.

Thank you to everyone involved in this terrific event. We are already planning for next year.

Sincerely,
Betty Fadden Executive Director
