Public Invited to Offer Comment on Draft Report of Waterfront Access Sites

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning will hold meetings Feb. 7 and Feb. 9 for members of the public to comment on the draft public access report for Oswego County waterways.

The county is working with the towns of Hastings and Scriba to conduct an inventory and analysis of public access sites along the Oswego and Oneida River corridors. The project also includes an examination of sites along the shorelines of Lake Ontario and Oneida Lake within Oswego County.

The first meeting will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7 at the Scriba Justice Center on Creamery Road. The Feb. 7 meeting will focus on waterfront sites on Lake Ontario within Oswego County and on the Oswego River north of the Minetto Bridge.

The second meeting will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 at the Hastings Town Hall, 1134 US Route 11, Central Square. This meeting will focus on the Oneida Lake shoreline within Oswego County, the Oneida River, and the Oswego River south of the Minetto Bridge.

The meetings are a follow-up to public meetings which were held in December, and will provide opportunity for the public to comment on the draft report.

“The final report of this inventory survey process will serve as a valuable tool for communities within the study areas,” said David Turner, director of the Oswego County Office of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. “They can use it in their efforts to seek funding assistance for the completion of a variety of projects that will be identified in the report.”

Oswego County is working with the staff of Barton & Loguidice, P.C. to complete the first stages of this project.
