FULTON, NY – County residents pursuing a career in the health care field may be able to receive some extra financial aid courtesy of the Rural Health Network of Oswego County. Coordinator, Danielle Wert, has announced that the group will once again offer scholarships to Oswego County residents who are enrolled or have been accepted in to a University / College or recognized program and are pursuing a major in the health care field.

“One of the goals of the Rural Health Network is to improve the access to and delivery of health care in Oswego County.  We have established this scholarship program as a way to encourage individuals to pursue a rewarding career in the health care field.  There is a growing need for people in almost all areas of health care. Our scholarship program allows us to be proactive and ensure that we have enough health care professionals to meet the health care needs of the residents of Oswego County,” said Wert.

The Rural Health Network of Oswego County will be awarding five scholarships in the amount of $1,000 to qualified individuals of any age that are either entering a program or continuing their education, at any level, in the health care field.

Applications, along with a one page typed summary explaining why you have chosen to pursue a degree in the health care field and how your decision will impact health care in rural communities, must be submitted no later than April 20.

Operating under the auspices of OCO Inc., the Rural Health Network is a consortium of health care providers and human service providers in Oswego County.  Working together the members take a collaborative approach to addressing major health issues that exist in Oswego County.
