All Lacrosse Wins for Bucs in Latest Contests

OSWEGO, NY – It was an overtime effort for the Lady Bucs varsity lacrosse team in an 11-10 verdict over visiting Cicero-North Syracuse.

Oswego held an early  5-1 lead and appeared in control, but CNS fought back and at halftime it was 5-3 in favor of the Bucs.

In the second half CNS gained the advantage as it overcame the Bucs halftime lead.  In the final two and a half minutes of regulation Taylor Giglio put the ball past goalie Stefani Reynolds twice to send it into overtime.

In OT, CNS gained an advantage, but Becca Martin and Mikayla Place scored in the waning moments of the second overtime for the victory.

Giglio and Place each had four goals while other scores were achieved by Alexa Healy, Kaitlyn Armstrong, and Martin.  In the assist department Armstrong and Place each had two while Sarah Stoebner, Mackenzie Robinson,  and Giglio had one each.

The Bucs moved to 3-0 n the year while CNS fell to 2-2.

Buc Laxmen Win Fourth

The Oswego boys’ varsity lacrosse team is off to a 4-1 start after a decisive 15-4 win over Corcoran on Tuesday night.

Coach Doc Nelson said, “We played pretty well in spots, but we dropped a boatload of feeds in the crease in the first half. Defensively, we did a great job allowing only six shots on goal and creating offense from defense.”

Continuing he noted, “Dom Cianfarano had a big game with seven goals and four assists for 11 points which puts him at number four in the all time single game offensive output.”

Trent Yule, a former goalie, had a three goal and three assist night for six points.

The Bucs held a 3-0 lead at the end of the first quarter and it was 6-2 by intermission.  Oswego ran away and hit with a 6-2 outburst in the third.

While Cianfarano and Yule combined for 10 goals others were added by Kaleb Astoria, David Mathes, John Phillips, Kyle Clark and Fred Ferguson.

Assists were spread out as Jon Kaplewicz, Dan Maniccia, Astoria, Mathes and Phillips each had one.

The Corcoran goalie stopped 52% of the shots he faced and finished with 16 saves while  Love had two saves and Phillips one for the Bucs.

Jayvee Lax Victory

Goalie Hunter Izyk made eight saves for his first shutout, keeping the Oswego jayvee lacrosse team undefeated on the season with a 3-0 record.

The Bucs controlled the game dominating face-offs and groundballs winning the game 11-0.  Mitch Schrader won six face-offs and grabbed eight groundballs.

Attackman Ben Annal led the scoring with three goals.  Zach Crisafulli scored two goals and Shane Bowman, Greg Mayer, Garrett Dunsmoor, Jake Gardner, Craig Lawton and Schrader each chipped in a goal.

The Bucs played an unselfish game as Annal assisted five of the goals.  Schrader and Bowman also finished with an assist.

Long sticks Eric Doviak, Sean Benjamin and Nick Reiner played great individual defense to help keep Corcoran from scoring. missing or outdated ad config
