Reception planned at Metro Center for SUNY Oswego painting exhibition

OSWEGO — SUNY Oswego studio art students will appear at an opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m. May 5, at the SUNY Oswego Metro Center in Syracuse for the free public opening reception of an exhibition titled “Simultaneous Contrast.”

The abstract paintings are already on display at the SUNY Oswego Metro Center, in the Atrium, 2 Clinton Square in downtown Syracuse.

The exhibition will run through June 15.

The students of Christopher McEvoy, assistant professor of art, have dealt with personal approaches or directions in abstract painting and the contrasts that result in combining these works in one show. The varying degrees of abstraction will showcase the diverse execution of this style of art.

McEvoy and the following studio art students will contribute to the show: Stephanie Arney, Toni Burrows, Amy Lovvik, Rebecca Hess, Matthew Hotaling, Joseph Ray, Breanne Regano, Chad Stewart, Rhiannon Throop, Emily Tran and Mark Zbikowski.

The SUNY Oswego Metro Center, which educates and develops students and professionals at all stages of their careers, is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 5 to 8 p.m. for Third Thursday participation.

Other nighttime and weekend hours are variable, depending on class schedules.
