Carmella (Ramsey) Chowaniec, 64

OSWEGO, NY – Carmella (Ramsey) Chowaniec, 64, a resident of Oswego, passed away Thursday May 10, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Syracuse.

Born in Utica, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Antonette (Delia) Yacco.

She was the owner and operator of Carm’s Café in Oswego and previously worked for Howard’s Office Supply, the Klein’s Department Store and Fulton Typewriter.
She was a member of the Columbiettes and enjoyed bowling.

She also served on the County Elections Board.

Surviving are her two daughters, Debra (Scott) Bristol of Baldwinsville and Mary Katheryn (Ramsey) Mangano of Oswego; one son, Robert (Elizabeth) Ramsey Jr. of Oswego; two brothers, Patrick (Suzanne) Yacco of Utica and Dominic (Theresa) Yacco of Oswego; one sister, Rosemary (James) Bouck of Ilion, NY; three grandchildren, Ryan and Lindsey Ramsey and Porter Bristol; several nieces and nephews; her close friend, Joe Mangano; and the father of her children, Robert Ramsey Sr.

A funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. May 15 at St. Mary’s Church, Oswego.

Burial will be in Utica, NY.

Calling hours will be 4-7 p.m. Monday at Nelson Funeral Home, 11 W. Albany St., Oswego.

Nelson Funeral Home has care of arrangements.

Sandy Creek Softball Team Section III Champs

The Sandy Creek Varsity Girls’ Softball team may have lost their bid to be State Champions, but that did not dim their accomplishments in the eyes of their school, their coaches, their families and their community. SUNY Oswego and Onondaga Community College to host visiting Fulbright scholar

Dr. Paula Banerjee, an associate professor of South and Southeast Asian studies at the University of Calcutta, was awarded the Fulbright grant by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board to spend the coming fall semester at Oswego and the spring 2014 semester at Onondaga in Syracuse.

Farewell Come and Go Reception Set For Kimplands

Mark and Lynne Kimpland have served the First United Methodist Church and the Fulton community for the last 18 years. “Our time in Fulton has been a wonderful blessing full of opportunities, challenges and above all, it’s unlimited potential,” Pastor Mark said. “We will forever treasure the relationships, ministries and Fulton’s unique sense of community.” Rev. Kimpland has been reappointed to the Endwell United Methodist Church in Endwell, NY and will begin his ministry July 1.
