FULTON, NY – John Flugel, 52, of Fulton, died Saturday May 5, 2012, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident.
He was born in Fairport, NY, to the late Robert and Beverly (McLeod) Flugel.
Mr. Flugel had been a resident of Fulton for 19 years.
He worked in a partnership with Beefer’s Handyman Services, Fulton.
Mr. Flugel enjoyed working and having a good meal.
He was a loving father and grandfather.
Mr. Flugel is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Flugel of Fulton; step-mom, Jean Flugel of Florida; siblings: Jan Hopkins of Fairport, NY, and Thomas Flugel of Tennessee; grandchildren: Jordan and Jeremy; and two nieces, Kaylee and Stephanie Hopkins.
Funeral services and burial will be private.
The Sugar Funeral Home, Inc., 224 W. Second St. S., Fulton, has care of the arrangements.

JOHN WAS A GOOD MAN. HE AND HIS CREW ALWAYS DID A GOOD JOB ON MY DRIVEWAY. RIP.
I first met John in a dorm room while he was hanging out with his cousin Bill aka Billy D. at Idaho State University (circa 1978). At the time, John had on this heavy-duty leg brace that he had to wear due to a leg injury. As usual, Bill and John were good naturedly giving each other a hard time. Cousin Bill pegged John with the nickname “Troop.” It seemed to fit John’s personality and in Idaho that’s what he was known by and called. John was a character to say the least. I remember he had a quick and easy smile and was always getting into mischief. But I know this, John is smiling down at us right now and telling family and friends-to Stand Tall and Carry On!
I knew John better known as Troop among his friends. I first met John with his cousin Billy D in 1978 while attending Idaho State Universitey . When I first laid eyes on John was wearing a dirty yellow T-shirt and dirty green PT shorts. He had wild curly hair and was wearing waffle stompers with big red shoelaces which were loose and flying everywhere. The most prominent feature on his body was a leg and waist cast. He greeted me with an Eastern Acsent with a smirk on his face.
John was a character. Typically Eastern and built like a tank. John was always getting into mischievous encounters and we always had a story to tell with John being the main actor.
John loved hanging out with my dad and his dogs in Shelley, Idaho.
We will miss you John. May you rest in peace my friend.
i didnt know him very well, but he usually had a smile on his face and always had a hello vicki for me. he was a nice guy and i was saddened to hear of this. john, i hope you are at peace and looking down on your family and friends with that smile of yours.
