4th Annual Ride for Ramps is an Opportunity to Help Neighbors

OSWEGO, NY: The fourth annual Ride for Ramps promises to be bigger and better than ever. It will be held 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. on June 9 at Woodchuck’s, 1 Mitchell St, Oswego.

In addition to the usual motorcycle ride through the Oswego County countryside, there will be a one-mile bicycle or adaptive cycle ride through Fort Ontario.

Participants can collect pledges to ride, or enjoy the classic car cruise-in and the family activities.

Chicken barbecue tickets can be purchased for $8 per dinner. The day will be filled with great food, great music, and great company.

“This event is all about bringing the community together to help our neighbors stay in our community,” said Jim Karasek, ARISE Oswego County independent living manager, and organizer of the event.

There are more than 20 families who have completed paperwork and are waiting for ramps. More families join the list every week.

One of the recipients currently waiting for a ramp is 15 years old and quadriplegic. He would love to be able to come and go from his home.

There are volunteers ready to design and build the ramps. What is needed most is funding to buy building materials. Proceeds from the Ride for Ramps will be used to purchase construction materials. All of the money raised through this event will stay in Oswego County.

Join ARISE in helping people stay in the community they love, and come out to the Ride for Ramps.

For information, how to register, or to purchase barbecue tickets, contact Karasek at 342-4088 ext. 206 or [email protected]
