Heidi Allen’s Sister’s Book Set To Be Published April 2013

OSWEGO, NY – Lisa Buske announced on her blog (http://www.lisambuske.com/1/post/2012/08/wheres-heidi-one-sisters-journey-to-be-released.html)  earlier today (Aug. 12) that  her book, Where’s Heidi? One Sister’s Journey, is slated to be released next year.

“I am happy to announce Where’s Heidi? One Sister’s Journey is tentatively scheduled to be released in April 2013!” she wrote. “We, my husband, daughter, and parents are so excited to share this book with all of you. The ultimate goal is a release date of April 3, 2013.”

The story invites the reader to join Buske on a journey no one ever expects to take – a journey through abduction and the loss of hope, family, and faith.

“With a soft and comforting tone, I speak to the sibling left to deal with the stress and grief experienced when their brother or sister is tragically taken from their lives,” she said in her blog. “Through my experience, you will recognize similar emotions with new or renewing perspective; you aren’t alone, someone else understands, and there is hope to get through with joy.”

In Heidi’s honor, the cover will be revealed on Sept. 14, 2012, Heidi’s birthday.

Heidi went missing from a convenience story in New Haven 18 years ago. Authorities say she was kidnapped by a couple of local brothers and is presumed dead. Her body has never been located. But to this day, the case remains open and police continue to investigate.

“My aunt Nancy called me with the news Heidi was missing,” Lisa told Oswego County Today in a 2010 interview when she embarked on her book. “I thought it was a misunderstanding at first, considering we lived in such a small country town like New Haven. My great-aunt had lost her battle with cancer the previous day and I thought Heidi might have went to check on my uncle. Yet, I knew she would have never left the store without contacting someone, waiting for them to arrive first.”

Once she arrived at the store, seeing all the police cars and officers snapped her out of her denial and into reality.

Back in 2006, she had entered a three-day novel writing contest. “Sad news is I didn’t win. But I received a beautiful handwritten note encouraging me to finish and seek publication,” she said. “They said it wasn’t exactly what they were looking for for the contest, but urged me to finish and get it published.”

“My book is written about the abduction of my sister. It is written from the sister’s perspective – with a main focus on my relationship with God and how that has evolved in spite of the tragedy experienced,” she explained.

“What do I think about (years later) when my thoughts turn to Heidi? As I drive by the community garden near the store, I smile as this represents one small way the community shows their continued love and remembrance for my sister,” Lisa added. “I say a prayer for her each time I see it, which encourages my heart knowing that God hears and answers each prayer given Him.”
