    Fulton Officer’s Car Hit By Alleged Wrong-Way Drunken Driver

    <p> </p>A Fulton Police Department vehicle was involved in a crash with a car driven by a man police say was drunk and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

    Fulton Police allege that officer Jeremy Algarin was driving along S. Fourth St. at about 9:12 p.m. Thursday when his car was hit by a vehicle driven by Peter Wahlstrom of Fulton.

    Oswego County Jobless Rate Falls

    Unemployment in Oswego County continued to back down from recent highs, falling to 9.2% in October, according to the New York State Labor Department.

    The jobless rate stood at 9.4% in September and had hit the 10% level earlier in the year.  A year ago, the jobless rate was just beginning to rise.  It stood at 6.6%.

    Emma DonathEmma Donath, in the Toddler Room at Discovery Day Care, is using her Sensory Skill to feel the inside of the pumpkin. She was able to pull the seeds out and explore the “squishy” and “wet” feeling of the inside of the pumpkin.

    State Announces Cleanup Of County Tire Dump

    <p>The state announced today that cleanup of the tire dump in West Monroe is nearly finished.</p>

    The state’s largest tire dump is no longer in Oswego County.  State, county and local officials gathered at the Fortino Tire Yard today to announce that cleanup of the site is nearly 100 percent complete. It had been the largest tire dump in the Empire State.

    Fulton Rotarians Meet New Chamber Chief

     Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Beth Hilton, left, recently visited the Fulton Rotary Club.  She was introduced by Rotarian and YMCA Executive Director, Elizabeth Fadden.  Ms. Hilton made the announcement that the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber has opened an office on South First Street, Fulton, adjacent to the Fulton Municipal Building.  Beth Hilton, an Oswego native, has spent the last thirteen years in the Beaufort, South Carolina area.  She worked for the Beaufort Area Chamber of Commerce for many years as the Executive Director.  Beth brings many years of experience to her new position.  The Fulton Rotarians gave her a warm welcome, especially when she announced the presence of a Chamber of Commerce office in Fulton after the absence of a local Chamber of several years.     Winter Wonderland Revealed at Oliver Paine Greenhouses

    The toy soldier brigade will have the greenhouse looking especially festive for the children, and the child in all of us to experience. The 10-foot tall poinsettia tree will of course be filled with all of the vibrant poinsettia colors. “It’s fun to see many of our customers take their holiday photo in front of our tree-it’s become a holiday tradition. And remember, poinsettias are safe for everyone.” says Cindy Paine.
