    Hannibal’s Burridge Scores 25 But Lakers Lose Basketball Opener

    The Oswego State men’s basketball team lost its season opener 82-71 to Utica at Max Ziel Gymnasium on Tuesday night. Second half shooting proved to be the difference in the contest as the Pioneers shot 55.2 percent from the field on 16-of-29 shooting, while the Lakers went 14-of-39 for 35.9 percent.

    Fulton Savings Bank Tip-Off Tournament Set

    The 15th annual Fulton Savings Bank Tip-Off Basketball Tournament will be held in Baldwinsville on Friday, December 11th and Saturday, December 12th. Boys Varsity and Junior Varsity Basketball teams from Baldwinsville, Central Square, CNS and Oswego will compete.

    Oswego is tied for second place in the league with Cornell. They travel to perennial powerhouse Penn State- Berks this weekend for two important league games. Penn State was the regular season NECHL champs last year and represented the league at the national tournament.

    Professor Studying Breeding Potential of Local Sturgeon

    Under a $42,102 grant from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, Welsh is studying whether offspring of Oneida Lake sturgeon can be used to stock rivers and lakes in other parts of the state.

    The Oswego Speedway kicks off its “60th Season” of weekly racing action on Saturday May 8th and for the first time ever, fans will get a chance to tour the “fast five eighths” race track as a passenger in a real supermodified race car.

    Oswego State Mens Club Hockey News

    The Oswego State Mens Club Hockey Team lost a pair of games to a tough Rutgers University team this past weekend at the Campus Center Arena.. The first game saw the Lakers being outscored by Rutgers 7-2. Scoring goals for Oswego were Jordan Romano and Tim Rinck with assists being credited to Greg Distin, Chris Covel, Brandon Clark and Brad Kervin. Sophomore goaltender Mike Reid had 61 saves for Oswego.

    The Oswego State Lakers opened their 2009-2010 season strong by winning five of their first seven games .This is especially gratifying to the coaches as all games were played on the road. One of the teams that Oswego defeated was nationally ranked #20 Duquesne University , Pittsburgh, PA.

    Hannibal Sports Boosters Donates Money to Pay for JV Wrestling

    This is the second of four installments, totaling more than $27,000, that will be donated to the Hannibal Central School District to fund JV sports that were eliminated from the 2009-10 budget. JV Football, Fall Cheerleading, JV Wrestling, JV Baseball and JV Softball were all cut from the budget.
