Syracuse, Utica Artists to Co-display Their Works at SUNY Oswego Exhibit

Utica sculptor Dorene Quinn will show "Tracks," left, a work in tree bark, while Syracuse artist Yvonne Buchanan will display "Visitation," a digital video projection, among their works in a paired exhibit Sept. 3 to Oct. 16 in Tyler Hall's south gallery at SUNY Oswego.Regional artists Yvonne Buchanan and Dorene Quinn work in different cities and in different media, but SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Art Gallery will display their work together in a free exhibit starting Friday, Sept. 3, called “One and One.”

Energetic Step Afrika to Offer Free Performance at SUNY Oswego

Step Afrika, a pulse-pounding troupe skilled in the intricate kicks, stomps and rhythms of the African-American art of stepping, will appear at 8:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30, at SUNY Oswego's Campus Center arena. Step Afrika -- whose slogan is "We step. We tour. We teach." -- also will offer stepping workshops at 1 and 2:30 p.m. Sunday on campus.The kinetic energy of Step Afrika will come to SUNY Oswego on Monday, Aug. 30, in a free performance for the campus and community.

Ke-Nekt Chamber Series at SUNY Oswego Announces 7 Concerts

The Aviv Quartet will open SUNY Oswego's Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series on Oct. 13. Artswego Season to Offer Globe-spanning Feast of Music, Dance, Comedy

Step Afrika, a high-energy dance troupe skilled in the African art of stepping, provides a free show to open the 2010-11 Artswego Performing Arts Series at 8:30 p.m. Aug. 30 in SUNY Oswego's Campus Center arena. The series features music, dance and comedy performances from five continents, through mid-February.Artswego at SUNY Oswego launches its 2010-11 Performing Arts Series with a free, pulse-pounding appetizer of a performance by Step Afrika, follows up with the flavorful rhythms of Sol y Canto and moves on to music and dance entrees of international flair, with a side order of classic American comedy.

Cortini Brothers And Friends To Play Jazz Fest

The unmistakable sounds of The Cortini Brothers will kick off Jazz Fest 2010 with a live performance on the Budweiser stage at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 13.

God Save The King And George Washington

The recreated armies of King George III and General George Washington will converge on historic Fort Ontario in Oswego for two days of living history activities on Aug. 14-15. The National Encampment of BAR was last held at Fort Ontario State Historic Site in 1996 and will feature volunteer reenactors from around the United States and Canada.

Jazz Guitar Great Sparks Returns To Jazz Fest

One of the highlights of last year’s Jazz Fest, the legendary jazz guitarist, Melvin Sparks, the originator of soul jazz, old school acid jazz, and barbecue funk jazz, will return to ignite Fulton’s Jazz Fest with another electrifying performance on Aug. 14.

Parish Olde Home Day Set

The Parish Olde Home Day will be co-sponsored by the Greater Parish Area Chamber of Commerce and the Parish Town Historical Society with the Cooperation of the Town and Village of Parish on Saturday, August 7. Oswego City Band to Celebrate 75 Years of Summer Concerts

The Summer Sunset Concert Series will officially celebrate 75 years of free concerts on August 25th @ 7:00pm in Breitbeck Park. The Oswego City Band will present the concert under the direction of Donald Goodness.
