    Internationally Acclaimed Violinist to Perform at SUNY Oswego Dec. 9

    World-class Romanian violinist Irina Muresanu will visit SUNY Oswego to perform "Homage to the Violin Sonata" at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom. The event will wrap the fall schedule of the college's Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series. World-class Romanian violinist Irina Muresanu will continue the SUNY Oswego Ke-Nekt Chamber Music Series with “Homage to the Violin Sonata” at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9, in the Sheldon Hall ballroom.

    The international award-winning violinist will perform sonatas by the likes of Beethoven, Schubert and Prokofiev with pianist Robert Auler of SUNY Oswego’s music department.

    Student Director Aims to Entertain, Engage Audience With ‘Blood Relations’

    The psychological thriller "Blood Relations" unfolds when The Actress (played by Jessica Quindlen, above) asks the infamous Lizzy Borden whether she committed the 1892 murders that captivated the world. The SUNY Oswego student honors production, directed by senior theatre major Keegan Bushey, will open Nov. 18 in Tyler Hall's lab theatre.The production, which will open Nov. 18 in Tyler Hall’s lab theatre, taps the story of the infamous Lizzy Borden, accused of killing her father and stepmother with a hatchet in 1892. The psychological thriller unfolds when, years later, Lizzy (played by Courtney Bennett) is asked by a character known simply as The Actress (Jessica Quindlen) whether she committed the sensational murders.

    Professors to Host Encore Edition of ‘Evening with Alan and Lawrence’

    "An Evening with Alan and Lawrence," created by and starring SUNY Oswego professors Mark Cole (left) and Robert Auler, will return to Tyler Hall's Waterman Theatre for a 7:30 p.m. Nov. 23 showing. The comedy with music had its world premiere at SUNY Oswego last year and has also appeared at Studio 24 in Syracuse. Mark Cole, professor and chair of theatre at Oswego, wrote the script and plays Lawrence, an eccentric unearther of little-known musical anecdotes. Robert Auler of the music faculty portrays Alan, a virtuoso pianist. Gerard Moses will direct the performance, which made its world premiere at SUNY Oswego last year.

    Jazz Concert at SUNY Oswego Celebrating 50th Anniversary of Landmark Albums

    The Oswego State Jazz Ensemble and small groups will present a 50th anniversary tribute to some of the great jazz albums of 1959 at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13, in Tyler Hall’s Waterman Theatre.

    Quirk’s Players To Present Fast-Paced Farce This Weekend

     Quirk’s Players of G. Ray Bodley High School will begin their 2009-2010 season with the fast-paced farce, Don’t Tell Mother! Performances will be held Friday, November 13th and Saturday, November 14th in the G. Ray Bodley High School Auditorium. Curtain time is set for 7:30 pm both evenings.

    Student Work Featured in Exhibitions at SUNY Oswego’s Tyler Art Gallery

    Both the Master of Arts Thesis Exhibition and Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition will open with a reception, which will be free and open to the public, from 5 to 7 p.m. in the gallery. Artists will be present and available to discuss their work with visitors.
