Barclay: Extraordinary Session Failure Highlights Albany’s Typical Dysfunction
Last week, Gov. Kathy Hochul convened an “extraordinary session” of the Legislature in a knee-jerk overreaction to a recent Supreme Court ruling that determined New York’s gun licensing laws to be unconstitutional.
“Significant action†was seen in the Assembly and Senate regarding the possibility of reopening Fort Ontario as well as several other state parks and historic sites that have fallen victim this spring to the state’s budget morass. It’s possible Oswego’s historic site could be open for Memorial Day Weekend.
