Oswego Man Charged In Burglaries

OSWEGO, NY – On Thursday (Oct. 28), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office arrested Shane A. Kent, 25, of 6 Varick St., Apt. A,, Oswego, for his alleged participation in the following burglaries that took place in Oswego County during July, 2010.

7/21/10 – Accused of unlawfully entering the KTM-Mini-Mart located in the Town of Oswego
Charges:
Burglary, Third Degree, a class D felony and Grand Larceny, Fourth Degree, a class E felony (stolen: cigarettes, a safe, & cash, all exceeding a value of $1,000) and Criminal Mischief, Fourth Degree, a class A misdemeanor (damage to a window) and Conspiracy, Fifth Degree, a class A misdemeanor (acting in concert with another).

7/26/10 – Accused of unlawfully entering the Sun-Up Food Store located in the Town of New Haven
Charges:
Burglary, Third Degree, a class D felony and Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor (stolen: cigarettes and cash, all with a value under $1,000) and Criminal Mischief, Second Degree, a class D felony (damage to basement doors, an alarm system, and the register system) and Conspiracy, Fifth Degree, a class A misdemeanor (acting in concert with another).

7/28/10 –    Accused of Unlawfully entering the Pit Stop convenience store located in the Town of Scriba
Charges:
Burglary, Third Degree, a class D felony and Grand Larceny, Fourth Degree (stolen: cigarettes and cash, all with a value in excess of $1,000) and Criminal Mischief, Third Degree, a class E felony (damage to a register system) and Conspiracy, Fifth Degree, a class A misdemeanor (acting in concert with another).

Mr. Kent was arraigned before Town of Scriba on all charges and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or bond.

He is scheduled to reappear before Town of Scriba Court on 12/09/10.

The investigation into the burglaries remains active at this time.

SUNY Oswego Student Charged

OSWEGO, NY – A SUNY Oswego student was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property (a felony).

According to Julie Harrison Blissert, college spokesperson, Ryan A. Woodward, 27, of 147 W. Fifth St., Oswego, was allegedly in possession of a wallet that had been reported stolen Thursday.

The wallet contained credit cards and University Police are continuing their investigation, Blissert said.

More charges are pending against Woodward, she added.

Woodward was arraigned before Oswego Town Judge Michael Sterio and remanded to Oswego County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail, which he later posted.

He is to return to Oswego City Court at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Man Charged With Manslaughter In Connection With Woman’s Death

OSWEGO, NY – An Oswego man is facing a felony charge in connection with the 2007 death of an Oswego Town woman.

wardToday (May 12) members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office charged Frank W. Ward, 45, of 171 Chapel Road, Oswego, with first-degree manslaughter, a Class B felony.

The charge follows an investigation into the death of Irene Doviak of the town of Oswego.

The arrest is the result of an investigation that began after Ms. Doviak was found dead in her home in November of 2007.

An initial investigation led to Mr. Ward being charged with first-degree assault.

Further investigation and information revealed Ms. Doviak died as the result of the injuries allegedly inflicted upon her by Ward, authorities said.

Ward was arraigned on the manslaughter charge before the Hon. John J. Elliott, Acting Judge for Oswego Town Court, and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility without bail.

Ward has been incarcerated since his arrest in November of 2007.
