Two groups did litter cleanups on the Oswego River this past week. The cleanups were scheduled earlier in the season, but the earlier high water had prevented that from happening.
OHS Interact Students Interact With Environment
On June 4, members of the Oswego High School Interact Club joined forces with members of the Oswego Sunrise Rotary Club to clean up and landscape a portion of our local lakeside near the Port Authority.
Angler Group Plans Spring Cleanup On Salmon River
A group of dedicated anglers will return to the Salmon River on May 7 – not to fish, but to pick up trash and debris – for their second annual Salmon River Cleanup. The Lake Ontario Tributary Anglers Council will meet at 10 a.m. at Fox Hollow Lodge, 2740 State Route 13.
Nearly 200 Participate In Oswego’s Annual Canal Cleanup
Despite some interference from the weather on the planned date (April 16), 180 volunteers met at the McCrobie Building on Lake Street at 1 p.m. on Sunday to clean up the litter on Oswego’s lakeshore and riverbanks.
Oswego Environmental Club Cleans Up
Students were responsible for picking up trash along the lakeshore at Breitbeck Park as part of their Earth Day celebration and the clubs continued environmental community service.
Oswego County Earth Week Set April 15 – 24
There are several small things you can do that will make a big difference. “In recognition, the Oswego County Environmental Management Council invites individuals, schools, and groups to participate in Oswego County’s Earth Week, April 15 through 24, with helping protect and preserve our county’s natural resources,” said Richard Drosse, Earth Week Coordinator for the EMC.
