Police Log: Sheriff’s Office, 12/13/10

On 12/06/10, Paul J. Sigona, 51, of 4158 Birchwood S, Liverpool, NY, was operating a 2006 Chevrolet westbound on CR 37 in the Town of West Monroe at 5:00 p.m. when he collided with an eastbound 2008 Lincoln driven by Joanne L. Russell, 74, of PO Box 335, Constantia, NY. The incident reportedly occurred 50 feet west of Weber Road when Mr. Sigona proceeded around a corner, then left the scene upon impact. Unsafe speed and slippery pavement appear to have been contributing factors in the incident. Mr. Sigona was ticketed for Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury Accident and Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent. Road conditions were reportedly covered with snow and ice at the time.

On 12/07/10, Ryan M. Pyland, 20, of 250 N. Pleasant St., Watertown, NY, was operating a 1995 Honda northbound on SR 481 in the Town of Schroeppel at 9:23 a.m. when he reportedly rear-ended a 2009 Mercury suburban driven by Dana M. Pinkley, 38, of 4098 Maider Rd., Clay, NY. The incident occurred 5/10 of a mile south of CR 57 as Ms. Pinkley reportedly slowed in traffic due to the snow on the roadway. Unsafe speed appears to have been a contributing factor in the incident, which occurred 5/10 of a mile south of Dix Road. Mr. Pyland was ticketed for Following Too Closely. The roadway was reportedly covered with snow and ice at the time of the incident.

On 12/07/10, Candice M. Clayberg, 51, of 218 Oswego River Road, Phoenix, NY, was operating a 2006 Chevrolet suburban southbound on Oswego River Road at 3:14 p.m. when she reportedly collided with a 2003 GMC pickup truck being driven by C.M. Boiselle, 24, of 29 Kline Drive, Pennellville, NY. The GMC was reportedly backing out of driveway when it was struck while still in the driveway. Unsafe backing appears to have been a contributing factor in the incident for which Mr. Boiselle was ticketed.

On 12/09/10 at 10:26 a.m., David A. Dumas, 35, of 4 Power Drive, Fulton, NY, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Second Degree (license suspended on 9/17/08 for failure to pay driver responsibility assessment, Revocation on 12/16/08 for Driving while Intoxicated, and Revocation 5/19/08 for Refusal to submit to a chemical test.), and Speed in a School Zone, following a traffic stop off SR 3 in the Town of Volney. Mr. Dumas was issued tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Volney Court on 12/17/10.

On 12/10/10 at 8:36 a.m., Juan A. Rivera, Jr., 35, of 1 Taylor Ave., Fulton, NY, was arrested based on a bench warrant charging him with Parole violation. Mr. Rivera was taken into custody and turned over to the Oswego County Correctional Facility where he is being held without bail.

On 12/11/10 at 10:03 a.m., Kayla J. Jones, 21, of 10215 SR 13, Camden, NY, was charged with Speed Over the State Speed Limit and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree (license suspended on 11/13/10 and again on 11/14/10 for failing to answer a summons, both in the City of Rome), following a traffic stop on SR 69 in the Town of Amboy. Ms. Jones was released on tickets returnable to Town of Amboy Court on 12/21/10.

On 12/11/10 at 3:45 p.m., Billy J. Kuykendall, 31, of 646 CR 85, Fulton, NY, was arrested based on a warrant issued by Oswego County Family Court charging him with violating Article IV of the Family Court Act (failure to pay support). Arraigned before the Hon. Michael Sterio, Town of Oswego Court, Mr. Kuykendall was remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $100 cash bail or $500 bail bond. He is scheduled to appear before Oswego County Family Court on 12/13/10.

On 10/26/10 at 10:52 p.m., Christopher R. Baker, 22, of 61 Woodridge Lane, Fulton, NY was arrested for Assault with Intent to Cause Physical Injury, a class D felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor and Criminal Possession of a Weapon, 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor stemming from a domestic incident in which he allegedly stabbed the victim in the neck with a folding knife during a physical altercation in the presence of a child. Mr. Baker was arraigned in the Town of Volney Court by Hon. Judge Kerfien and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $7500.00 cash or $15000.00 bond with a return to court date of 11/8/10.

On 10/26/10 at 1:02 p.m., Krystal L. Ziegler, 18, of 108 Hurlbut Rd., Mexico, NY was operating a 1993 Toyota southeast on Pangborn Rd., in the Town of Palermo, when she reportedly attempted to make a right hand turn onto CR 4 after failing to stop for the stop sign at the intersection, lost control causing the vehicle to roll before striking a utility pole. Ms. Ziegler and a passenger, Nicole Ziegler, 21, were taken by ambulance to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. Speed seems to have been a contributing factor. This remains under investigation.

On 10/27/10 at 4:55 p.m., a 16 year old male residing in the Town of Cleveland was issued a Criminal Summons by the Mexico Town Court charging him with Harassment, 2nd degree. The male is scheduled to appear in the Town of Mexico Court on 11/16/10 to answer the charge.

On 10/19/10 at 3:25 p.m., a 15 year old male residing in the City of Fulton was charged with Juvenile Delinquency for an act, which if committed by an adult, would have constituted the crime of Criminal Mischief, Fourth Degree, a class A misdemeanor. The youth had reportedly become insubordinate with the bus driver and while exiting a bus he allegedly punched the top window of the bus door, shattering the glass, while at BOCES in Mexico. The youth was issued an appearance ticket to answer the charge before Family Court at a later date.

On 10/22/10 at 1:01 a.m., Heather M. Mack, 19, of 539 Wilcox Drive, Sterling, NY, was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration, Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor; Resisting Arrest, a class A misdemeanor; and Harassment, Second Degree, a violation, following an incident that occurred at a SR 48 Town of Granby residence following a loud party complaint. Ms. Mack was accused of pushing an officer in the upper chest and neck area while the officer was attempting to assist an intoxicated patron of the party. She further reportedly refused to comply with the officer during her arrest. Ms. Mack was issued appearance tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Granby Court on 11/08/10.

On 10/22/10, Lori L. Sweeney, 32, of 713 Oneida St., Apt. 1, Fulton, NY, was operating a 2006 Chevrolet van westbound on Martville Road in the Town of Hannibal at 9:14 a.m. when she collided with a southbound 1995 Pontiac driven by Brian L. Wing, 39, of 89 Rochester St., Hannibal, NY. The incident occurred at the intersection of 66 Road. The impact caused the Chevrolet to collide with the stop sign west of 66 Road, then to veer off the road, overturning, before landing on its passenger side. Reportedly, Ms. Sweeney stopped at the stop sign, then proceeded through, making a left hand turn onto 66 Road. The Pontiac reportedly struck the passenger side, rear door of the van. Failure to yield right of way appears to have been a contributing factor with Ms. Sweeney being issued a ticket for Failure to Yield the Right of Way at a Stop Sign Intersection.

On 10/22/10 at 2:12 p.m., Kenneth M. Cardinell, 18, of 32 Hayfly Road, Oswego, NY, was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation; Unlicensed Operation; and Speed in School Zone, following a traffic stop on CR 64 in the Town of Mexico. Mr. Cardinell was issued an appearance ticket and uniform traffic tickets and is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Mexico Court on 11/09/10.

On 10/22/10 at 2:12 p.m., Joshiah M. VanWormer, 19, of 160 Minkler Road, Mexico, NY, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree, and Inadequate Muffler, following a traffic stop on CR 64 in the Town of Mexico. Mr. VanWormer was issued tickets and released and is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Mexico Court on 11/09/10.

On 10/22/10, Sandra L. Audas, 38, of 269 CR 55, Fulton, NY, was operating a 2003 Dodge suburban in the Town of Granby at 6:33 p.m. when she collided with a 1998 Buick driven by Peter A. Lange, 43, of 1203 County Line Road, Fulton, NY. The incident occurred one mile north of South Granby Road when Ms. Audas turned left out of her driveway onto CR 55 into the path of the Buick. Mr. Lange was traveling south on CR 55 at the time. The Dodge incurred damage on the driver’s door. Ms. Audas and her passenger, Susan J. Thomas, 61, were both transported by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Ms. Audas was ticketed for Failed to Yield Right of Way While Entering Another Road.

On 10/22/10 at 8:08 p.m., Timothy J. Nolan, 57, of 6010 West Lake Road, Auburn, NY, was charged with Speed in Zone and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation, following a traffic stop on CR 8 in the Town of Granby. Mr. Nolan was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Granby Court on 11/08/10.

On 10/22/10 at 11:44 p.m., Paul J. LaPointe, 20, of 2830 CR 57, Fulton, NY, was charged with Disorderly Conduct, a violation, after he reportedly was found under the influence of alcohol and after he became combative during an investigation into a loud party complaint at a SR 48 Town of Granby residence, the second complaint of this nature in two days. Mr. LaPointe was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to answer the charge before Town of Granby Court on 11/08/10.

On 10/23/10 at 1:49 a.m., Richard H. Ladd, III, 20, of 3197 Main St., Mexico, NY, was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, a violation, stemming from the investigation into a loud party complaint, the second of this nature in two days, at a residence located on SR 48 in the Town of Granby. Upon arrival Mr. Ladd was engaged in a fight. A subsequent investigation found him to be in possession of a pipe containing marijuana residue. Mr. Ladd was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Granby Court on 11/08/10.

On 10/23/10, Daniel E. Muthig, 18, of 2954B SR 13, Albion, NY, was operating a 1991 Honda ATV in a field north of SR 13 in the Town of Albion at 11:16 a.m., when he lost control of the machine. Mr. Muthig was partially ejected and the ATV rolled over on top of him. Mr. Muthig was transported by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Unsafe speed and improper turning appear to have been contributing factors in the incident.

On 10/23/10 at 9:21 p.m., Jerry L. Wilbur, 26, of 6270 Wynmoor Drive, Cicero, NY, was charged with Speed in Zone and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree (license suspended on 4/11/10 for failing to answer a summons out of the Town of Cicero), following a traffic stop on US Rt. 11 in the Town of Mexico. Mr. Wibur was issued tickets and released to a third party. He is scheduled to appear before Town of Mexico Court on 11/09/10 to answer the charges.

On 10/24/10 at 5:01 a.m., Theresa D. Owens, 39, of 2883 US Rt. 11, Parish, NY, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving With .08 of One Percent or More of Alcohol, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, Unlicensed Operator, Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent, and Crossed Official/Hazardous Road Markings, following a property damage accident that occurred in the Town of New Haven. Reportedly Ms. Owens was driving east on Middle Road when she traveled straight through a curve on Middle Road and crossed over Dennis Road striking a guard rail before exiting the roadway. The vehicle then went over an embankment striking several trees before coming to rest over the embankment between two trees. Ms. Owens was released on tickets returnable to Town of New Haven Court on 11/11/10.

On 10/24/10, James W. Goss, 74, of 4185 Gemini Path, Liverpool, NY, was operating a 2007 Cadillac northbound on CR 10 at 7:59 p.m. when he failed to stop at the i9ntersection of SR 49. He then reportedly traveled off the north shoulder of SR 49 coming to rest approximately 100 feet from the roadway after striking a small dirt berm causing undercarriage and front-end damage. Mr. Goss, the sole occupant, was transported by ambulance to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse. Driver inattention appears to have been a contributing factor in the incident.

On 10/16/10 at 6:10 a.m., Robert L. Delaney Jr., 22, of 105222 5th Arbor Drive, Fort Drum, NY was charged with DWI, Operating a MV with BAC .08 of 1% and Crossing Road Hazard Markings following the investigation into a mva on SR 104 in the Town of New Haven where he allegedly went off the south side of the roadway while attempting to make a U-turn. Mr. Delaney was released on tickets returnable to the Town of New Haven Court on 10/28/10.

On 10/18/10 at 2:13 p.m., Jonathon M. Moore, 18, of 98 Shanty Creek Rd., Central Square, NY was charged with Criminal Mischief, 3rd degree following the investigation into an incident in which he allegedly drove his vehicle into a baseball field at a Town of Parish Park. Mr. Moore was issued an appearance ticket, returnable to the T/O Parish Court on 11/9/10.

On 10/18/10 at 6:18 p.m., Jason M. Malone, 29, of 1391 County Route 3, Hannibal, NY was charged with Criminal Contempt, 2nd degree and Harassment, 2nd degree following the investigation into a domestic incident that occurred at a Town of Granby residence on 10/9/10 in which he allegedly engaged in an argument with an individual of which has an order of protection against him. Mr. Malone was released on appearance tickets, returnable to the T/O Granby Court on 11/22/10.

Sheriff’s Office, 10/18/10

On 10/15/10 at 4:41 p.m., Richard H. West, 46, of 1100 Emery Street, Pathfinder Courts, Apt. 337, Fulton, NY, was arrested based on a warrant issued by Oswego County Drug Court charging him with Failure to Appear to face charges of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, First Degree, a class E felony; Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, an Unclassified Misdemeanor; and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, Third Degree, a class A misdemeanor. Mr. West was placed in the Oswego County Correctional Facility without bail pending a court appearance on 10/18/10. The warrant stems from an arrest that took place on 11/20/09 when Mr. West was accused of driving a stolen vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

On 10/15/10 at 9:35 p.m., Kevin M. Firenze, 25, of 200 West First St., Apt. 3, Oswego, NY, was charged at the Oswego County Correctional Facility with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Second Degree, stemming from an incident that occurred on 9/04/10 when he was accused of being involved in a car-pedestrian motor vehicle accident while operating a motor vehicle without a valid license. Mr. Firenze was issued a traffic summons and released back to the Oswego County Correctional Facility where he is being held on unrelated charges. He is scheduled to appear before Town of Scriba Court on 10/28/10 to answer the charge.

On 10/15/10 at 9:15 p.m., Kally L. Carr, 26, of 243 E. Second St., Oswego, NY, was arrested based on a bench warrant issued by Town of Scriba Court charging her with Harassment, Second Degree, a violation, after turning herself in at the Oswego County Public Safety Center. Ms. Carr was arraigned before the Hon. James Aluzzi, Town of Volney Court, and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear before Town of Scriba Court on 10/22/10 to answer the charge, which stems from an incident that occurred on 5/12/10 at a Town of Scriba residence when she was accused of threatening to kill a female victim during a verbal argument.

On 10/16/10 at 11:10 p.m., Malinda S. Clark, 26, of 393 Rathburn Road, Lot 15, Fulton, NY, was arrested for Criminal Mischief, Fourth Degree, a class A misdemeanor, stemming from a domestic incident that occurred at her residence earlier in the evening during which she was accused of rendering a telephone useless by breaking the wire that connects the cordless base to the phone jack, making it impossible for the victim to call 911. Ms. Clark was arraigned before the Hon. Eugene Hafner, Town of Hannibal Court, and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to return to court on 11/16/10 to answer the charge.

On 10/17/10 at 12:42 a.m., Kimberly A. Keating, 33, of 25 Falise Drive, Oswego, NY, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Speed in Zone, following a traffic stop on Middle Road in the Town of Scriba after she was reportedly observed driving over the posted speed limit. Ms. Keating was issued tickets and released. She is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Scriba Court on 11/04/10.

On 10/17/10 at 6:00 p.m., Keith R. Woodcock, Sr., 20, of 3181 Jockey St., Ballston Spa, NY, was arrested based on a bench warrant held by Ft. Plain Village Police, Montgomery County, New York. The warrant was revealed during an unrelated incident that occurred at a Town of Scriba residence. Mr. Woodcock was turned over to a member of the Ft. Plain Village Police for further processing.

On 10/17/10 at 9:56 p.m., John P. Martin, 34, of 372 Park St., Fulton, NY, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, a class E felony; Driving With .08 of One Percent or More of Alcohol, a class E felony (based on a prior DWI conviction on 11/10/07 in the City of Fulton); Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree (license suspended 8/28/10 in the Town of New Haven for failing to answer a summons); and Speed Over the State Speed Limit, following a traffic stop on SR 104 in the Town of Hannibal. Mr. Martin was arraigned before the Hon. Eugene Hafner, Town of Hannibal Court, and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bail bond. He is scheduled to return to court on 11/16/10.

On 10/17/10 at 10:04 p.m., Joshua S. Russell, 29, of 767 Towne Road, Pulaski, NY, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree, and Crossed Hazardous Road Markings, following a traffic stop on SR 481 in the City of Oswego after being observed crossing hazardous road markings twice while driving northbound just south of Churchill Road in the Town of Scriba . Mr. Russell was issued tickets returnable to Town of Scriba Court on 10/28/10 and released to a third party.

On 10/13/10 at 1:00 p.m., Diane L. Frisicaro, 58, of 340 West 5th Street, Oswego, NY was arrested for AUO, 3rd degree ( suspended on 9/4/10 for failure to pay fine in the TO Minetto) and Improper Right Turn following the investigation into a two vehicle mva at the intersection of CR 8 and Meeker Ave. in the Town of Minetto. Ms. Frisicaro was issued UTT’s, returnable to the T/O Minetto Court on 10/28/10.

On 10/13/10 at 6:59 p.m., Clayton E. Curtis III, 33, of 399 US Rt. 11 Apt # 11, Central Square, NY was arrested for Criminal Mischief, 3rd degree, a class E felony following the investigation into an incident in the Town of Hastings in which he allegedly spit in the victim’s face and then proceeded to strike the victim’s vehicle, leaving dents in it. Mr. Curtis was issued an appearance ticket, returnable to the T/O Hastings Court on 10/25/10.

On 10/14/10 at 3:07 a.m., Douglas J. Burton, 32, of East 4th Street Bldg# 123, Oswego, NY was arrested for AUO, 2nd degree (5 suspensions on 3 dates) and Speed Exceeding 55 mph following a traffic stop on SR 481 in the Town of Scriba. Mr. Burton was arraigned in the Town of Scriba Court and ROR’d with a return to court date of 10/21/10.

On 10/7/10 at 3:20 p.m., Mark W. Newman, 64, of 10151 Univ Blvd 225, Orlando, FL was operating a 1994 Chevrolet suburban south on SR 48 in the Town of Granby when he reportedly fell asleep causing the vehicle to exit the roadway on the west side and strike a utility pole before coming to rest facing southbound in the ditch. Mr. Newman was transported by ambulance to the Veteran’s Hospital in Syracuse.

On 10/11/10 at 5:00 p.m. a 15 year old female residing in the Town of Hastings and her parent were issued Juvenile Appearance Tickets charging her with Juvenile Delinquency for crimes, if committed by an adult, would have constituted the crimes of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle w/o Owner’s Consent, 3rd degree, a class A misdemeanor. The youth and her parent are directed to contact the Oswego County Probation Department for further processing. The charges stem from an incident in which the youth allegedly took a vehicle without parental permission and in doing so left a child unattended.

On 10/12/10, Casey Stauring, 17, of 2305 CR 8, Minetto, NY was arrested at 1:12 p.m. for Burglary, 2nd degree, a class C felony, 2 counts of Grand Larceny, 4th degree, a class E felony and Criminal Mischief, 4th degree, a class A misdemeanor stemming from the investigation into a stolen shotgun and rifle after he allegedly entered a Town of Granby residence in March 2010. At the same time, he was arrested for Burglary, 3rd degree, a class D felony and Petit Larceny following the investigation into a stolen lawn mower complaint from a Town of Minetto residence in Sept. 2010. Mr. Stauring was arraigned by Hon. Judge Winkworth, T/O Granby Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5000.00 cash or $10000.00 bond with a return to T/O Minetto Court on 10/14/10.

State Police: 10/11/10

Autumn N. Lavanchard, 21, of Altmar was charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief and reckless endangerment for an incident that occurred at 5:08 p.m. in Albion.

William C. Amell, 59, of Dexter, was the driver in a one-vehicle accident on October 6 along Route 81 in Parish.  The investigation was closed Oct. 11 without a ticket being issued.

Jason D. Wheeler, 34, of Martville was charged with felony counts of falsifying business records and grand larceny above $3,000 for an incident first reported October 10 in the town of Hannibal.  He was arrested in Fulton.  He was ordered held for arraignment.

Bruce R. Allen, 66, of Fulton was the driver in a one-vehicle accident at about 8:45 p.m. along Route 34 in Hannibal.  The investigation was closed without a ticket being issued.

Anthony L. Pearse, 18, of Central Square was ticketed and released on a violation charge of marijuana possession at 11:51 p.m. October 11.

On 10/8/10 at 2:22 a.m., a 17 year old male residing in the City of Fulton was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 7th degree; Petit Larceny; Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, 5th degree; Unlawful Possession of Marihuana; Operating MV w/o Inspection Sticker; Drinking Alcohol in MV on Highway; Leaving Motor Vehicle Unattended and Improper License following the investigation into a vehicle on CR 8 in the Town of Minetto that patrol came upon, unoccupied and the engine running and the alleged male was reportedly standing in a driveway by a vehicle with the male found to be in possession of a GPS and Sirius satellite radio. The male was arraigned in the Town of Granby Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500.00 cash or $1000.00 bond with a return to Town of Minetto Court on 10/14/10.

On 10/11/10 at 7:38 a.m., Timothy F. Pottenburg, 34, of 149 Harold Street, Syracuse, NY was arrested at his residence based on an Arrest Warrant issued out of the Town of Sandy Creek Court charging him with Harassment, 2nd degree stemming from a domestic incident on 11/26/09. Mr. Pottenburg was arraigned in the T/O Sandy Creek Court and ROR’d.

On 10/11/10 at 2:30 p.m., David J. Darling, 48, of 601 Park Ave, Syracuse, NY was arrested at the Public Safety Building in Syracuse based on a bench warrant issued by the Town of Scriba Court charging him with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property, 5th degree. Mr. Darling was arraigned by Hon. Judge Searles in T/O New Haven Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $250.00 cash or $1000.00 bond with a return to T/O Scriba Court on 10/15/10.

On 10/11/10 at 1:30 p.m., Kevin J. Douglas, 45, of 17 Fischer Drive, West Monroe, NY was arrested based on an arrest warrant issued out of the Town of Hastings charging him with Trespass stemming from an incident at a Town of Hastings establishment in Sept. 2010. Mr. Douglas was arraigned in Parish Town Court and ROR’d with a return to Hastings Town Court on 10/27/10. Stemming from the same incident, Terri Watson, 43, of 1231 SR 104B, Mexico, NY was issued a Criminal Summons charging her with Trespass and is to appear in Hastings Town Court on 10/27/10.

On 10/11/10, at 2:12 p.m., Shirley E. Raponi, 72, of 436 Rowlee Rd., Fulton, NY was operating a 2001 Ford reportedly pulling out onto SR 481 off of CR 57 in the Town of Volney when her vehicle collided with a 2006 Lincoln being operated by William C. Loveall, 72, of 3645 CR 6, Oswego which was heading south on SR 481. Ms. Raponi was issued a UTT for Failure to Yield the Right of Way.

Sheriff’s Department, 10/11/10

On 10/10/10, Tyler E. Stowell, 18, of 9445 Chalkstone, 16-8, Brewerton, was operating a 2000 Pontiac southbound on CR 23 in the Town of Constantia at 8:55 p.m. when he lost control 1/10 of a mile north of Auringer Road when he reportedly swerved to avoid a deer. The vehicle spun and struck a utility pole. Cody D. McKerchie, 17, a passenger, was transported by ambulance to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse. Unsafe speed and animal’s action appear to have been contributing factors in the incident. Mr. Stowell was ticketed for Speed Not Reasonable and Prudent.

On 10/08/10 at 3:51 p.m., Melissa K. Nichols, 18, of 234 Oneida St., Fulton, was arrested for Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor, after she was accused of stealing merchandise amounting to $49.16, which included hair products, toothbrushes, and clothing, from the Wal-Mart store located in the Town of Granby. Ms. Nichols was issued an appearance ticket and released. She is scheduled to answer the charge before Town of Granby Court on 10/18/10.

On 10/08/10 at 7:32 p.m., Lori A. Lanford, 46, of 16531 Irwin Rd., Oswego, NY, was arrested based on a bench warrant issued by Town of Oswego Court charging her with Facilitating Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree; No Inspection Certificate; Operation While Registration Suspended; Operation Without Insurance; and Improper Plates. Ms. Lanford was arraigned before Town of Hannibal Court and released on her own recognizance. She is scheduled to appear before Town of Oswego Court on 10/11/10 for further proceedings. The warrant stems from an arrest that took place on 1/28/10, the result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on SR 104 in the Town of Oswego.

On 10/08/10 at 7:56 p.m., a 15 year old male residing in the Town of Volney and his legal guardian were issued a Juvenile Appearance Ticket charging him with Juvenile Delinquency for crimes, which if committed by an adult, would have constituted the crimes of Burglary, Third Degree, a class D felony; Conspiracy, Fourth Degree, a class E felony; Petit Larceny, a class A misdemeanor; Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor; and Conspiracy, Fifth Degree, a class A misdemeanor. The youth and his guardian are directed to contact the Oswego County Probation Department for further processing. The charges stem from the youth’s participation in an illegal entry to a Town of Volney business that occurred on or about 6/24/10 when cigars and cigarettes were stolen.

On 10/09/10 at 1:56 a.m., Tony A. Dupont, 21, of 118 Wheeler Rd., Altmar, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, and Crossed Hazardous Road Markings, stemming from the investigation into a motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of CR 22 and SR 104 in the Town of Albion. He reportedly lost control of the Geo Metro he was driving with the vehicle found facing the woods on the southeast corner of the intersection, reverse lights on, and Mr. Dupont still behind the wheel. Mr. Dupont was arraigned before the Hon. Howard Allen, Town of Albion Court, and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bail bond. He is scheduled to return to court on 10/18/10.

On 10/09/10 at 2:20 a.m., Hugh D. Hogan, Jr., 40, of 236 Brecheimer Rd., West Monroe, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Second Degree (license suspended on three separate occasions for failing to answer a summons, for failure to pay a fine, and for failure to pay child support), and Failed to Use Designated Lane, following a traffic stop at the intersection of East Avenue and SR 49 in the Village of Central Square. The traffic stop was initiated after he was reportedly observed driving to the right of the fog line while the officer was working a STOP-DWI detail. Mr. Hogan was issued tickets and released. He is scheduled to return to court on 10/27/10.

On 10/09/10 at 4:07 a.m., Adam J. Harper, 21, of 333 Chestnut St., North Syracuse, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Driving with .08 of One Percent or More of Alcohol, following a traffic stop on CR 57 in the Town of Volney. Mr. Harper was issued tickets and released. He is scheduled to appear before Town of Volney Court on 10/25/10 to answer the charges. The arrest was the result of an investigation into a disabled vehicle observed on CR 57 at the intersection of SR 481 in the Town of Volney after Mr. Harper, the reported driver, was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

On 10/09/10 at approximately 2:59 p.m., members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office investigated a car-pedestrian motor vehicle accident on Middle Road in the Town of Scriba. A westbound vehicle operated by Randy J. Mulcahey, 46, of 610 Middle Road, Oswego, NY, struck nine (9) year old Caleb J. Bowen in front of 671 Middle Road. Initial investigation revealed the youth may have ridden a skateboard into the roadway and into the path of the oncoming vehicle. Obstructed view appears to have been a contributing factor, reporting a row of pine trees are located at the residence blocking the view of persons that may be in the driveway at the residence. Caleb Bowen was airlifted to Upstate University Hospital. No tickets have been issued at this time. Assisting at the scene were members of the Scriba Fire Department and Oswego City Fire Department Ambulance. The incident remains under investigation at this time.

On 10/09/10 at 5:08 p.m., David R. Steele, 26, of 42 Chase Road, Fulton, NY, was arrested for Menacing, Second Degree, a class A misdemeanor, stemming from a domestic incident during which he was accused of displaying a gun, holding it above his head, during a verbal disagreement, before leaving the premises. Mr. Steele was subsequently located in a wooded area near the residence and found to have in his possession what was described as a black plastic air-BB gun Mr. Steele was arraigned before the Hon. Eugene Hafner, Town of Hannibal Court, and released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear before Town of Granby Court on 10/18/10 to answer the charge.

On 10/09/10 at 7:01 p.m., Michael K. Wells, 33, of 3990 CR 4, Oswego, NY, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated, Driving With .08 of One Percent or More of Alcohol, and Failure to Keep Right, following the investigation into a motor vehicle accident that occurred in the Town of Scriba. Mr. Wells was issued tickets, released to a third party, and is scheduled to answer the charges before Town of Scriba Court on 10/28/10. Reportedly, Mr. Wells was operating a 2000 GMC pickup truck westbound on SR 104 and collided with an eastbound 2007 Dodge driven by Jordan Cottet, 19, of PO Box 877, Mexico. The incident reportedly occurred as Mr. Wells attempted to make a left hand turn onto Klocks Corners Road.

On 10/05/10 at 12:06 p.m., Jon P. Kelly, 29, of 841 Hannibal St., Fulton, was charged with Trespass, a violation, after he allegedly entered the Wal-Mart store located in the Town of Granby after being banned from the store in September. Mr. Kelly was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Town of Granby Court on 10/18/10.

On 10/05/10 at 4:15 p.m., Matthew Morse, 20, of 18 Cherry St., Phoenix, was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation, Third Degree (license suspended 9/01/10 for failure to pay two summonses in the City of Fulton), and Inadequate Lighting following a traffic stop on CR 57 in the Town of Volney after being observed operating a vehicle without headlights in inclement weather. Mr. Morse was issued tickets returnable to Town of Volney Court on 10/19/10.

Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County is proud to announce that its latest tutor classes graduated on May 6. Some have already started tutoring Oswego County adults. LVOC tutors complete an orientation and 9 hours of training which includes how to teach adults basic literacy skills.

Sandra Scott Travels: The best place to see North Korea

As part of our DMZ tour we went to Dora Observatory where it is supposed to be the best place to see North Korea. First we had to go through a security checkpoint. We were told to bring our passports but no one checked them probably because the only non-military vehicles allowed are the designated buses which transport tourists from the nearby Imjingak Park into the secured area.
