Eastern Shore Associates Donates Toys To Fulton Salvation Army, Oswego County Toys For Tots

Employees at Eastern Shore Associates Insurance (ESA) headquartered in Fulton donated a Christmas tree-full of toys for the Fulton Salvation Army’s Angel Tag holiday toy drive. “Our employees’ enthusiasm for this program is  personally inspiring to me and it shows in the large amount of toys they donated,” said Gail Cruse, ESA representative and project coordinator. “We’ve participated with this project for more than a decade and it’s so gratifying to help the Salvation Army brighten up the holidays for children in our area.” ESA also ran a toy collection campaign at its Fulton office for the Oswego County Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots program.

Eastern Shore Associates Insurance Opens N. Syracuse Office

Eastern Shore Associates Insurance (ESA), recently opened a new office at 401 S. Main St., N. Syracuse, it was announced by Martha Murray, ESA president.

“We have been looking for a more centralized location for some time to better serve our clients in Onondaga County,” Murray said. “To accommodate this, we closed our Camillus location and transferred those operations to N. Syracuse. Our new location also has a larger capacity and more abundant parking for our customers than the Camillus office did. Mary Jones, vice president personal lines, heads operations there.

Wallace Named CEO and COB, Murray, Casper, Welch Promoted at Eastern Shore Associates Insurance

Eastern Shore Associates Insurance (ESA), recently appointed Robert K. Wallace as CEO and chairman of the board. In addition, the agency has promoted Martha Murray to president; Sheila Casper to Small Business Accounts Manager; and Julie Welch to Commercial Lines Supervisor, Wallace said. Both Casper and Welch will report to Murray. Wallace was formerly president and CEO.

“Martha, Sheila and Julie have all performed exemplary service for our clients and have shown excellent leadership among their colleagues,” Wallace said.

Murray, who joined the agency in 2009 as vice president, commercial lines, worked for nine years with Main Street America Group insurance, one of the companies ESA represents. She resides in Liverpool and is a Baldwinsville native with more than 35 years experience in the insurance industry. Murray is also a longstanding board member for St. Francis Social Adult Day Care in Syracuse.

“It’s been wonderful being part of the ESA team and, as president, I look forward to working together to help our agency’s continued growth and success,” Murray said.

Casper, who formerly served as Commercial Lines Marketing Manager, resides in Hannibal and was named Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR), of 2007 by the New York State Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of New York, Inc. The award can only be earned when an ACSR provides exceptional service, business retention, technical expertise, account rounding, and positive company relations. She also holds the Associate in Risk Management (ARM) designation. To earn the ARM designation, each participant must pass rigorous courses on risk assessment, risk control and risk financing, Wallace said.

Among the subjects covered by these courses are: risk management programs, legal foundations of liability, assessing property liability, intellectual property loss exposures, finite and integrated risk insurance plans, accounting and income tax aspects, and allocating risk management costs.

Welch, a licensed insurance broker for ESA, holds the Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) certification and earned the professional insurance designation Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) by the American institute for CPCU in 2011. The institute is an independent, nonprofit educational organization that confers the CPCU designation on persons who complete eight rigorous courses and national examinations and meet its ethics and experience requirements. All CPCUs are required to maintain and to improve their professional knowledge, skills and competence through their commitment to the American Institute’s Code of Professional Ethics.

Literacy Volunteers of Oswego County is proud to announce that its latest tutor classes graduated on May 6. Some have already started tutoring Oswego County adults. LVOC tutors complete an orientation and 9 hours of training which includes how to teach adults basic literacy skills.

Sandra Scott Travels: The best place to see North Korea

As part of our DMZ tour we went to Dora Observatory where it is supposed to be the best place to see North Korea. First we had to go through a security checkpoint. We were told to bring our passports but no one checked them probably because the only non-military vehicles allowed are the designated buses which transport tourists from the nearby Imjingak Park into the secured area.
