Assistant District Attorney Donald Todd announces his candidacy for election for Oswego County Court Judge. Todd, a resident of the city of Oswego, feels he is the most qualified and experienced member of the legal community for the position.

State Assemblyman Will Barclay (R-Pulaski) said today he is forming a committee to explore the idea of running for Congress this year.

Barclay has formed an exploratory committee, which allows him to raise money for a possible run.

Freshman Congressman Bill Owens will have a seat at the table that decides major issues such as military policy and national security. Meantime, the opponent who conceded defeat on election night now takes it all back, alleges ACORN tried to steal the election, and wants supporters to send him money for the fight.

Absentee ballot totals were announced Tuesday in four of the eleven counties that make up the 23rd Congressional Disrrict.

The result: Conservative Party candidate Doug Hoffman narrowed the gap with Democrat Doug Owens by just 214 votes as the results from Oneida, Madison, Hamilton and Fulton counties came in.

With the margin of votes between him and Democratic candidate for Congress Bill Owens shrinking, he told conservative radio and TV talk host Glenn Beck Monday that “if I knew this information at the election night, I would not have conceded.”

At least one of his campaign staffers thinks that might be true, after revised numbers show the race for Congress is closer than it appeared to be on Election Night.

So, the question: Can Hoffman still win after all the absentee ballots are counted?

People who vote by absentee ballot in the Nov. 3 General Election will receive a separate ballot for the 23rd Congressional District election for Congressman, Oswego County Election Commissioners William Scriber and Donald Wart announced today.

Lots of folks have made up their minds — at least tentatively — about who they’ll vote for in November to replace John McHugh in Congress.  But the first independent and credible poll of the Congressional special election shows that this race will come down to the decisions of people who don’t know today who they’ll vote for and who may not even know who the candidates are.

I would like to thank the voters of the Oswego County 15th District and all the districts for coming out to vote in the Sept. 15th Primary. I also wish to remind voters that I will be running in the Nov. 3rd election for the 15th Legislative seat as an Independent.
