Rain Holding Back Oswego County Farmers
According to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service, this April was the wettest that the area has seen since 1859. May came in at 1.64 inches wetter than average, he added. When asked how the rain was affecting his farm’s crops, Jeff Halstead of Halstead’s Harvest summed it up with: “One word. Terrible.” Other farmers, all across the county, feel the same way.
Grazing Workshop Being Held In Baldwinsville
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County, in collaboration with the Soil and Water Conversation districts of Onondaga and Oswego counties, will be providing a workshop on April 9 to educate agricultural producers on different strategies in incorporating intensive rotational grazing on their farm.
Oswego County Holiday Farmers’ Market Scheduled
Sponsored by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County, the market will be held at the Mexico VFW on Scenic Avenue, just north of the village. Visitors to the market will discover great holiday gifts from local agricultural producers. And, they will have the opportunity to speak directly to the farmers present at the market.

This week’s Oswego Farmers’ Market will add a little Irish flavor to the evening as members of the Oswego Hibernians Club will be on hand selling their famous corned beef sandwiches.
