Influenza Cases On The Rise Across The Country And Here At Home
The Oswego County Health Department observes National Influenza Vaccination Week, Dec. 5 through 9, by reminding people that it’s not too late for everyone aged 6 months and older to get their annual flu shot.

Flu season has already begun and the Oswego County Health Department (OCHD) reports that positive influenza cases are on the rise. According to the 2022-2023 Oswego County Flu Dashboard, there have been just under 200 lab-confirmed flu cases reported since Nov. 20.

The high-dose influenza vaccine is for individuals aged 65 years and older. It is meant to give older people a better immune response and thus, better protection against flu.

Dr. Dennis Norfleet, Oswego County Director of Public Health, would like to stress the importance of staying healthy and getting vaccinated against H1N1 this flu season.
Health experts are expecting another wave of H1N1 to hit sometime in February. There is still time to get vaccinated against H1N1 flu.

If your child is under 10 years old and received their first dose of H1N1 vaccine at the Oswego County Health Department’s school-based clinic for Oswego City Schools in December, a second booster dose is now strongly recommended.

Last Chance for Seasonal Flu Shots at Oswego County Health Department
The Oswego County Health Department will hold its last seasonal flu clinics on Thursday, January 21 and Thursday, January 28, 2010 at the Nick Sterio Public Health Clinic on Bunner Street in Oswego.
