The Phoenix man responsible for fatally stabbing Fulton man, Sean D. Leonard, 23 in October was sentenced today (June 28) to serve three to nine years in prison. Markee L. Cathcart, 20 of Phoenix had previously submitted a guilty plea to the charge of manslaughter in the second degree as part of a plea deal proposing a sentence certain.
A Huntley Hearing brought three NYS Troopers and a NYSP Investigator to the stand in the case against Markee L. Cathcart, 19, indicted on charges of manslaughter in the second degree and assault in the second degree, both felonies to which Cathcart plead not guilty. All witnesses were called by the People, represented by Assistant District Attorney Matthew Bell, and were cross-examined by the defense counsel, Joseph Rodak.
Joyce Malone will spend the next 10 years behind bars. The Oswego Town woman was sentenced this morning (April 12) in Oswego County Court. Oswego County Judge Walt Hafner also sentenced her to five years of probation upon her release from state prison. Malone, 70, of Tug Hill Road in Oswego Town, was convicted in January of first-degree manslaughter in the shooting death of her husband, Ralph.
UPDATED: Joyce Malone is facing a 5 to 25 years prison sentence. The 70-year-old Oswego Town woman was found guilty today (Jan. 24) of first-degree manslaughter.
According to Oswego County Sheriff’s deputies, she “recklessly caused the death of her nine-month old child.â€
BREAKING NEWS: State police investigators say a Mexico man died early Sunday morning following a dispute with an Oswego man. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death. The suspect is being held in Oswego County Jail.
Members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office charged Frank W. Ward, 45, of 171 Chapel Road, Oswego, with first-degree manslaughter, a Class B felony.
