NYSERDA Announces $10 Million Available For Carbon Neutral Community Economic Development Projects

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) today announced $10 million available under the fifth round of the Carbon Neutral Community Economic Development Program as part of Round XIII of Governor Kathy Hochul’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative announced on May 15. Projects funded through this program are advancing decarbonization and stimulating economic development in disadvantaged communities in support of the State’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 85 percent by 2050 and ensure at least 35 percent, with a goal of 40 percent, of the benefits of clean energy investments be directed to disadvantaged communities.

NYSERDA Announces $1.9 Million To Selected Projects Advancing Low Carbon Solutions In Multifamily Buildings

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) today announced $1.9 million for six projects selected to participate under the first round of the Low Carbon Pathways for Multifamily Buildings program for market-rate or affordable multifamily buildings. Located at co-ops, condos, and rental buildings, awarded projects will advance upgrades to the building envelope, ventilation, space heating and cooling, or domestic hot water systems to reduce climate change causing emissions and improve energy efficiency. This announcement supports the State’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 85 percent by 2050 and Governor Hochul’s goal to develop two million climate friendly homes by 2030.

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) announced today an upcoming public webinar series on the ways extreme heat is impacting New York State. As part of Governor Kathy Hochul’s 2022 State of the State directive and interim recommendations, work is underway to help New Yorkers and communities better understand and prepare for the impacts of extreme heat, including opportunities to learn about solutions for adapting to and forming partnerships to address extreme heat.

NYSERDA Announces Agreements On Two Municipally-Owned Sites For Renewable Energy Development

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) today announced agreements on two municipally-owned sites for potential renewable energy development. Under these memorandums of understanding (MOU), NYSERDA through its Build-Ready Program will work closely with Tompkins County in the Southern Tier and Orange County in the Hudson Valley, to explore the feasibility of developing renewable energy projects on otherwise underutilized lands.
